I've finally gotten off of my lazy behind and started writing again! I'll hopefully be on again before next week and try to update once again, thank you all so much for reading thank's @chibi_monster for being awesome and always commenting (I'll eventually go back and edit the last chapter and change Kishan to Kishin, if you notice anymore errors like that please let me know because I do really try hard to be accurate about what I'm writing, ya know?)
Also, with melodyandlavier I'm gonna try and start making an origin story with Natsu, if you're a Fairy Tail fan, I hope you'll enjoy.
Without further ado . . . SOUL EATER!
Maka's POV:
As soon as I heard the explosion I activated my soul perception and saw the kishin egg guards attacking Liz, Patty, and Kid. I was going to go and help them, but Kid seemed to take care of them fairly quickly.
I wanted to stay focused on the task at hand with Soul's Grandmother, but the fact that there was Kishin eggs here means that something more is happening, and how would they be able to hide from my soul perception? I should've been able to sense them as soon as I entered the mansion.
I began running down the hallway and tried locating the first Evans. Soul was still down below and I saw Wes's soul just down the hall. I continued to run until I made it to the door that Wes was behind. Without thinking I opened the door and rushed in.
"Wes! It's an emergency you ne-" I was cut off by the sound of a violin. Wes sat in the middle of a plain room, the walls were a dulled white and there was a black grand piano at one end. There were also several shelves of trophies and other such awards all addressed to Wes. His bed was also neat and tidy, not a single crease in the blanket and the pillows were perfectly lined up with the brown headboard.
Wes glanced up briefly at me and then his eyes fluttered closed again as he continued playing. The music itself was a familiar classic, one that I couldn't place, and the overall sound was beautiful, but then . . . I couldn't help but hear Soul's piano in the back of my mind. Comparing the two I realized that Soul's personality and entire being went into the piano, while Wes's . . . didn't.
It sounded very two dimensional, almost as if it didn't have any soul or emotions in it. Wes finished, breaking me out of my thoughts as his emotionless music ended.
"Wes . . . your grandmother she's-"
"I already know she's dying . . . if that's what you were going to say." Wes carefully started putting his violin away, back in it's case.
"Then . . . then why are you here and not going to see her? Why aren't you going to spend all the time you can with her before she's gone?" I asked quietly, still shocked by his bluntness.
He didn't answer but lazily his eyes met mine, "Why are you prying into the Evans' family business? It's clearly none of your concern to wonder why Soul came here, or why I have chosen not to see my grandmother at this time, so why are you bothering?"
Shock was barely registered by this point and was now replaced by anger. "How dare you?" I demanded clenching my fists. "Doesn't she mean anything to you? You will never get a chance to see her again, and you're here arguing with me over interfering with your selfish inconsiderate family?" I shook my head. "I feel maddeningly horrible for your grandmother." I admitted.
"Why would you feel bad for her?" He asked staring intently at me.
"Because she has such a rotten family. She . . . she just wants you all there for her, one last time. But you're all selfish. For whatever reason you have for not showing up . . . I hope it's worth it." I whispered then I walked forward, it took everything I had not to cry in pity for the old woman. "I apologize in advance."
"What?"
"MAKA CHOP!" I shouted successfully knocking him out with my book that I seemingly materialize out of no where. He fell to the floor with a satisfying thud.
I put my book back (A/N: seriously guys it's scary how Maka's books kind of just appear out of nowhere and then she's like a weapon of mass destruction with JUST. A. BOOK.) and grabbed his arm and dragged him down the hallway . . . but I didn't get far. Seriously, just how much did he weigh?
After further more painful attempts, I finally gave up about half way there. "I'll let Soul pull you the rest of the way." I admitted to the unconscious boy.
I then stood up and looked down the hallway again, I was already tired and I didn't know how much soul perception would really help at keeping me awake, it took up more energy then I would like to admit if I kept constantly using it, of course I could always just try and sense the souls, but it might just take longer.
There was another explosion and I threw away rational thought and stared through soul perception to find the remaining members of the Evans family. The mother was on the first floor, Soul was near her, the father seemed to be outside with Hilary, and . . . my gut seized in panic as I realized that the house was full of Kishins. More than I could count. Thankfully, there was no witch that I could see.
"MAKA!" Kid shouted. I turned and saw him, Liz and Patty were in weapon form and he was shooting down Kishin soldiers attacking him. "When was the last time you used your soul perception?" He demanded aiming both his guns behind him and activating his Death Canon and shot down the group in two powerful shots.
"Just now, you saw all the Kishin eggs?" I asked he nodded.
"We need to figure out what's going on here!" Kid growled and threw Liz and Patty back and they both simultaneously flipped turning back to their human form.
"Maka . . ." Kid trailed and crossed his arms. "We need to exterminate the Kishin eggs here, get Soul, and leave."
"Well . . . we . . . I found out why Soul came back . . ." I admitted looking down sadly.
Kid blinked once waiting for me to explain. "Soul's grandmother . . . she's dying. I promised her I'd get all the Evans together before she left."
"That really sucks. I truly feel bad for Soul and his family, but we have a job as Meisters, Maka. Our job first and foremost is to eradicate the world of Kishin eggs so that another Kishin can be born and the world be consumed by madness. We have to protect them before we can fix whatever is wrong here. Understand Maka? Get Soul and we'll take care of the Kishin egg problem first."
"But Kid! She's only got an hour, two at most . . . I promised her that I'd-"
"Maka, would you want her soul consumed before it can return to where it came? We'll protect her, and if we're fast enough then we can maybe fulfill her wish, but for now we need to take care of the Kishin eggs." Kid finished glaring at me. "It may suck but we've got to do our job."
"I . . . I know." I finally answered. "We'd better get this done fast, because I never break promises." Determination made its way into my voice. Kid smiled and turned to Liz and Patty.
"Have you finished collecting the Kishin eggs?" He asked. They both nodded.
"Good, lets continue. We'll go find Soul now." Kid ordered.
"He's with Black Star at the moment, but . . . I feel like somethings off."
"I know what you mean." Kid whispered as Liz and Patty returned to weapon form. "Oh, and Maka . . . I think you should be aware," He started then turned to look at me again. "There are most likely several witches here." I swallowed and nodded. "Okay."
With that we both ran down the hall, leaving Wes on the ground, heading towards Soul so we could fight together once again.
Yay! Hope you enjoyed :D
