To say the least . . . Soul was rich. Not we have a couple nice cars and a fancy ball room rich, but full blown Richie Rich let's have a swimming pool in our swimming pool rich.
Kid was more than pleased to learn that symmetry ran in their architecture.
"How beautiful!" He admired. It seemed a bit Gothic, almost like the museums back in Italy, and much like something Soul was into.
I also noticed how much music constantly played, it was quite strange. There was also the fact that Wes was the one who sent Soul the letter, but I didn't dwell on it. Hilary seemed to take a liking to Black Star as well. She kept admiring his muscles and cooed over him when he said he would surpass God.
So much for being loyal to Soul if she was his fiance.
NOT THAT I CARE! I mean . . . if Soul's engaged that's his business. I would've been nice to know my weapon partner had a wife-to-be, but HEY! It's SOUL'S LIFE. I mean, I don't even care!
We entered in the mansion to here several voices arguing.
"It seems we're missing the fun." Hilary pouted with a small smile.
"It's my life! I can be wherever I please!" I heard Soul yell.
"You've learned to control yourself! It's time you come back to the family business!"
"Let's go, Maka!" Hilary grinned and pulled me through the main doorway into the middle of a shouting match between Soul and a large looking man with gray hair.
"Who in the h-"
"Father!" Soul shouted interrupting him. He then turned to glare at me.
"Maka what are you doing here!? I thought I told you to leave me alone!"
"But Soul dear, isn't this your Miester? The girl who owns you now?" Hilary asked with doe eyes.
"I don't own Soul . . ." I answered weakly.
"So it's YOU who has poisoned Soul's mind!"
"What? No I-" Maka began but was interrupted by Soul.
"LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS! I'm no longer apart of this family, REMEMBER?"
"You only left to learn control!"
"NO! I left to get away from this!" Soul shouted back. That's about the time that Kid, Black Star, Tsubaki, Liz, and Patty all came in with Wes leading them.
"Soul!" Wes snapped at him.
Everyone stared at him. "Take your friends with you to the dinning room and then go visit Grammy. I'll deal with mom and dad."
"Shut up, Wes!" Soul yelled back at him.
"Do NOT talk to your brother like that!" A skinny woman with blond hair shouted at Soul. She wore a velvet red dress that looked like it cost more than the entire house.
"Like it even matters . . . " Soul spat. He grabbed Maka's hand and pulled her out of the room with the rest of the gang in tow.
"That was . . . " Liz started.
" . . . Not as bad as it could be!" Tsubaki tried smiling kindly. Soul rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, he could've demanded where all of you lived and made your lives a living he-"
"Soul it can't be that bad." Maka tried.
"You have no idea. Your dad may be creepy but at least he lets you do what you want and live the life you choose." Soul snapped angrily. They continued down a long hallway with records and art hanging on all the walls.
Kid was studying it, he was disgusted that they didn't make it symmetrical inside, but that wasn't the only thing that caught his eye. He noticed big music names on some of the records and he saw paintings of concerts and famous musical proteges that must have cost thousands.
"Soul . . ." Kid trailed off. Soul opened a large door and they all entered.
"What are you all doing here?" Soul demanded angrily. "I told you to leave me ALONE!"
"We were worried about you. . ." Maka insisted again
"Don't be-!" Soul grabbed his head and sighed. "Look, I'll be right back, STAY HERE, and don't talk to anyone, especially Hilary." Soul warned.
"Wait!" Maka shouted, now it was her turn to be angry. "Why wouldn't you tell me about any of this!? It's not that hard to tell your Miester that oh, you're ENGAGED or you have a bad relationship with your family or that you have an ACTUAL PROBLEM!"
"Stop being a pest Maka! It's my life and I need privacy too!"
"Soul!" Kid shouted interrupting them.
"Calm down-Both of you!" Kid glared at Soul. "Are you apart of the Evans' family?"
Soul stiffened but said nothing.
"I always heard that they had another child, but I never imagined the piano protege of the Evans family line would be our Soul."
"What are you talking about?" Maka demanded.
"I left." Soul answered quietly. "I found out I was a weapon and I took that as my opportunity to leave. They only agreed to it for the fact that I couldn't control my shifting."
"Why didn't you want to be here?" Patty asked sitting down on a chair.
"Wasn't it obvious?" Soul snorted. "That little scene you saw never happened before I left. I was a perfect little kid that would do whatever his parents asked, because I had nowhere to go and no plans in life. Now I have something and I don't want to stay here and lose that."
They were all silent for a while until Tsubaki looked up and stood up quickly.
"What is it?" Kid asked.
"Black Star isn't here!"
