The Untamed - Chapter 8

~ Chad's P.O.V. ~

"Don't." I warn her.

She roll her eyes, "Don't boss me around."

Doesn't she know that being nude infront of the opposite sex is harmful! She begins to rip off the rest of her shirt and I quickly grab her hoodie of the ground and wrap it around her.

"Scarletie." I say sharply. "Don't do that? Not when I am here. Don't you know that you should take a bath in privacy." I say in a flinty tone.

She frowns at me in confusion, "But I want to take a swim."

So she really doesn't know? I sigh and remeber to try to be as flirtatious as I can be. I tuck a strand of her wild hair behind her ear.

"Scarletie. You are not supposed to bathe when I am looking or present. You don't just take your clothes off like that. I have to be away. For your safety."

She seems so childish that I keep forgetting she is a witch. She has to understand and know its not good for her and me. She tilts her head and nods understanding.

"So you cant be here.... Okay, go back to the cabin. Start braiding the vines like I taught you, return the stuff, and I would be back in time with supper." She demands smiling.

WORK! The four letter word I hate.

~

I take the jar filled with water and the tools back to the cabin. I place the belongings onto the table and grab the vines. I lay back onto the straw mattress and kick off my shoes. I weave the vines, braiding it, and busy myself with them.

I stopped suddenly. Did I just listen to her without hesitating? I didn't even complain either!

Has she placed a spell on me? Thoughts dance through my mind and I throw the half braided rope across the room as anger grew in me.

What did she do to me?

That last sentence he said keeps haunting me. What does he mean by 'For your safety'? Is he really dangerous as mother had told me? But I trust him... I even gave him a arrow to put away.

I sigh loudly and lay back floating, going with the rythme of the steady water. I run my fingers through my hair and try my best to untangle it.

Pouring some flower petal mixture on my hair and rubbing it thoroughly with my nails. The petals are sticky but they still give off a strong malodorous scent.

I grab my clothing from the side and scrub at it, removing the dirt it contained. I rinse my self one last time and walk out of the cool water to hang my clothes onto a branch. I enjoy the breeze on my skin and lay in field of yellowish-green grass that stopped at my knees, but laying down it covered me from any "preying" eyes.

I laugh at that thought and enjoy the sun rays that warms me from the chill of the water. A what felt like hours my stomach rumbles louder than thunder would, startling me. I open my eyes and start to get dressed.

I go back into the water and lay my robe onto the muddy ground waiting quietly for a fish to swim over it. When a fish finally did pass my arm and swim over the dark robe I quickly raise it and catch the fish inside the robe.

I repeat this technique and caught three fish. knock the life out of them and tie it up inside the robe. I usually don't catch this much but because I have to feed Chad I have to work longer with my fishing.

I skip back home smiling the whole way, wanting to show my catch, but I found Chad laying down on the mattress with a unfinished robe that layed near the fireplace. Oh well. It was a long day for him and I will only allow it this one time. I go towards the fireplace and pick up the robe tucking it in one of the glass hard on the cupboard. I put away the other things that layed on the table and then pull out a pan from the cupboard.

I remove the big water-filled pot, replacing it with a pan, that was belonged to Mother, like all the other stuff in this cabin. I dump the fish onto the pan and start the fire underneath. I quickly fry the fish, and place the pan onto the table. I feed the fire more logs to warm the cool night, and grab two large leaves off the shelf, placing it in front of each chair.

I take the wooden jar filled with water and place it on the table. Stepping back I smile at how pretti it looks and feels. Finally I am going to eat with someone. My heart begins to hurt, this reminds me of Mother. I let out a breath and remove the thought of Mother.

I stroll towards Chad and nudge him with my foot. "Get up! Dinner time."

He groans and sits up rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Go wash your face with the water in the pot, and come sit down and eat." I tell him.

I turn and sit down, taking a fish from the pan and placing it on the leaf, I pinch the meat and blew at the steam, and popped it in my mouth savoring the taste.

"Mmm-Mmm-Mmm."

Chad stares at me, and sits across. "Is that how we are supposed to eat this?" He ask in disgust. I nod my head with my mouth full, but I continue to munch on the fish.

"But, where is the utensils?"

I look at him. "Chad I don't understand. Oh and I also take the third fish for I won the bet." I smirk at him and continue to eat.

"So you don't have anything to eat this fish with?" He asks.

I swallow. "Chad. If you don't want to eat, I can eat the fish for you instead." I suggest wiping my mouth with my sleeve.

He scrunched his nose and picks the fish up by the tail, inspecting it. "It is burnt." He complains.

I glare at him, "Well, next time you should cook." I say and grab my second serving.

"No. I meant it taste amazing." He says as he finally bites into it, "Thank you."

I toss the fish skeleton to Sox that layed in a corner and crunched at the bones, and sat back with a full belly telling Chad the plan for tomorrow. It was going good for a while but I noticed a bit of fish meat that stuck on Chad's chin. It bugged me so much that I stopped talking and scoot my chair next to his. He looks at me in shock and I get close to his face.

Ignoring his stare, I brush my thumb across his chin removing the crumb off of his face and meet his green eyes, smiling. My smile quickly vanishes, when I saw a odd look on his face.

Did I do somthing wrong?
