___________
I awake to beeping sounds.
Ugggggggggggghhhhhhhhh everything hurts.
I try to turn over to my side, and it takes about 15 minutes. When I finally do though, I see Connor is lying unconscious on the bed next to mine.
I try to open my mouth to say something to him, to try to wake him up, but I find that I'm unable to open my mouth.
I'm too absorbed with trying to say something, anything, that I don't realize that he is already awake by now.
"Hey." He says, grinning.
I, on the other hand say "hmm" in my failed attempt to open my mouth and say hi.
"Are you okay?" He asks, concerned. Psh, like he should be concerned. He was way more damaged than me. He has a black eye, and from the looks of it, a couple of broken bones.
I actually manage to pry my mouth open this time, and it hurts like heck.
"Um, Harmony, there was something on your mouth. Like glue or something."
I poke my lip with my finger, to find, yes, my mouth was actually glued shut.
But why?
Just then, a doctor walks in.
"Hello. I'm Dr. Wilson. Now, how are you, and how long have you two been awake?" He asks
"We're fine. We woke up just a few minutes ago." Connor answers before I can speak. "But, we have to ask, why was her mouth glued shut?"
"Well, it's just better to come out with this, straightforward, no interruptions." He sits down and faces Connor and I.
"Okay, I'm going to give you a complete recap of everything that has happened since you two blacked out. Okay, first, after you two blacked out, a teacher, I think Mrs. Davis was her name, came out to where you guys were, and saw you guys on the ground, and the bloody knuckles and bruises on a young girl, and a couple of young men. I don't know the names of anyone of them except for the girls name, I believe her name was Avery. Anyway, they all got expelled for physical violence."
I did a silent "yes!!!!!" at this, because I was so happy that I would never be seeing Avery again.
"Then Mrs. Davis then proceeded to call an ambulance, we arrive, and then you came here. Your parents came, Harmony, but umm, they, umm, well they glued your mouth shut so you could, and I quote 'never speak to disrupt peace again.' Obviously, they aren't very smart, considering they used simple elementary glue. But, umm... " He pauses, as if he wants to tell me something, but he doesn't want to hurt me.
That makes me kinda not want to hear what he's going to say.
"Harmony, your parents are in Wisconsin already. And, umm, they told me to tell you not to visit. But, good news is, your new legal guardian, until you turn eighteen, is now Connors mom, Sherry."
