Ameera: Hi. I was wondering if you could help me with my crush situation. (First of all, my name's Ameera. ) My crush is a very close friend of mine. His name is Khaled. We've been really fast friends since the beginning of the school year and I have feelings for him ever since. Sometimes I feel like that he really likes me but other times I'm not sure. Can you help?

Me: What makes you think he likes you back? What does he do?

Ameera: Here's an example: A while ago, I asked what he likes most about me. He said that he liked my face, then quickly clarified it to my smile. Then he responded by smiling at me. He always does cute things like that.

Me: Then other times?

Ameera: In a jokingly- serious way, I asked him where did he want to go for his honeymoon. It was really funny watching him actually thinking about it. He said that he doesn't really think about things like that. I told him I was joking, and with a confused face he said I sounded serious.

Me: Oh, lol. Well he was considering it. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. What grade are you guys?

Ameera: 7th Grade. I know that's young, but I don't plan on marrying him right then and there.

Me: I get ya. How long have you guys known each other?

Ameera: 5 months. (Basically since the beginning of the school year).

Me: Well, is he the oblivious type? lol

Ameera: Yeah, he seems like it

Me: Lol,oh my gosh he even seems like it to me. Have you ever asked him, "Hey who do you like?" Since he's oblivious he won't take it as you like him, just that you're curious.

Ameera: Yeah, I've asked him that before, he said no, (maybe because it was in the hallway at school). Some of my mutual friends asked if he liked me, but he said no. He seems a little secretive to me.

Me: Is he shy? You never tried asking him teasingly privately?

Ameera: Yeah, he's shy like to other people, but not to our circle of friends. I never asked him privately yet, but with those weird questions (like that honeymoon one) I wanna know his "taste". Does that make sense?

Me: His taste? You think he's the shallow type to have a "taste"?

Ameera: Well, he's not shallow, but I think he's picky or something. Sometimes he's says my hair is excessively long (it is), and it feels more like an insult than a compliment. Also, he told he doesn't like me wearing braids so much (he thinks it's basic) He's not very good with compliments. Come to think of it, he might be a little shallow. Yikes. What should I do?

Me: Well first of all, you need to figure out if he actually likes some one or not. Even have a friend you can trust ask for you secretly. If you actually like him and want to be with him you can't wait forever to do it. I recommend you SLOWLY start making your friendship into a more flirty almost relationship type thing. And EVENTUALLY, not soon but not later, you're going to have to tell him how you feel. But make sure you're not taking you liking BEING FRIENdS as you LIKING HIM that way. it's so easily mistaken it breaks up friendships.
