Chapter 7

We entered the shopping mall with a purpose. And we weren’t leaving tell we accomplished something, however small.

“Let’s start there!” Ivy squealed.

“Hot Topic?” I asked, dubiously. “Don’t get me wrong. I love the store. But we aren’t here scoping for the latest band tees.”

Danny nodded in agreement, prompting Ivy to huff.

“Fine,” she grumbled.

We started at a boutique called Stella’s. The dresses in the window were unique enough to grab our attention. A sale’s associate approached us almost immediately.

“Can I help you?” She was probably in her thirty’s, dark brown hair piled on top of her head in a bun.

“I want something that says I’m not a slut, but I’m not a virgin either,” Danny smiled mischievously.

I hit his arm.

“Ignore him, and his quotes from White Chicks. We’re looking for dresses…and a suit…for our school’s masquerade,” I butted in.

She smiled warmly, “I think I’ve got just the things you’re looking for.”

She lead us to the back of the store, and pulled out a few dresses. She dropped them in my arms, spilling out reasons on why they were ‘perfect’ or ‘would flatter my figure.’ She did the same for Ivy and shoved us into dressing rooms.

We stepped out at the same time and turned to each other. Her strapless silk dress was royal purple and fell to her feet, and fit mermaid-style. Mine was an obnoxious pink. Needless to say, neither worked.

“Next,” Danny dismissed us.

Ivy’s next dress was perfect for her. Like I had suggested, its first layer was ivy green with a black lace layer on top. It fit her very well, tight until the hips, and loose when it cascaded down her long legs. A slit up to her thigh gave it a more sexy edge, but revealed almost no cleavage due to the bandeau-like top.

“It’s perfect, Ivy!” I exclaimed.

“I’d love to say yours is, but I’d be lying,” she responded. “And thank you!”

I agreed with her. Mine was a lilac purple, and stopped before my knees. It was strapless and tight, and not masquerade worthy.

This time Danny went in with me, to try on a suit for sizing purposes. She had them in all colors of the rainbow, which greatly excited Danny.

I stepped out of the changing room, unsure. I really liked this dress, and didn’t want them to disagree. Danny was standing next to Ivy in a light pink tux, and when he looked at me his jaw dropped. Ivy grinned brightly, and a guy at the front of the store stared for a few seconds.

“Guys,” I began awkwardly.

“Oh my god, Ro. It’s perfect!” Ivy jumped up and down, now in her normal clothes.

“Girl, you look fabulous!” Danny said…well, gaily.

“You are so getting this one,” Ivy smiled.

“Now all we need is masks,” Danny concluded, heading back to his room to change.

Short, I know. I'm sorry!

So...what does her dress look like?

Will they find the right masks?

DO SKITTLES REALLY TASTE LIKE THE RAINBOW?

All will be found out, and more, in the coming chapters of Mirror, Mirror!

Lol. I'm totally being silly. I'm thinking 2 more chapters, maybe one, until the actual dance. This story needs to get moving!
