Chapter 44

So I couldn't make it into the team 'cause I missed tryouts :(  I was so sad when I woke up and saw I was 40 minutes late!

My stupid alarm didn't go off 'cause I didn't check the volume. It was turned all the way down.

Anyways... Sorry for my lack of uploads. I just get distracted very easily not to mention busy.

Chapter 44

“What?” I gasped.

                I looked sideways at David hoping to understand what’s going on. The possibility of the twins being my mom’s children crossed my mind but I quickly shook my head. That’s impossible. Lucas and Cathy can’t be her children. If she hasn’t seen dad for a long time then she can’t be pregnant, and mom would never cheat on dad. No, she loves him too much.

                So if my mind is saying they aren’t her children then why are my eyes saying otherwise?

                There has to be an explanation to all of this. It just can’t be.

                “Mom?” David choked through his shock.

                My parents finally noticed us at that moment. Mom looked at me and David, tears still in her eyes and if it wasn’t for the fact that her eyes were full of happiness and joy I would’ve thought someone had hurt her.

                Dad quickly wiped his eyes with the sleeves of his shirt, trying to hide the fact that he was crying. He doesn’t like it very much when people see him crying. To tell you the truth this was the first time I’ve ever seen him cry.

                “David, honey,” mom started. “I have something to tell you all.”

                “I can see that,” I whispered.

                Mom turned her gaze to me. “Let me explain, but Vanessa and Allen need to be there too.”

                I nodded numbly.

                Dad led me and David to the nearest empty room while mom went to get Vanessa and Allen. Cathy and Lucas came with us, staring at dad the whole time.

                We waited for mom in the room, neither of us eager to talk. I think it was because we were all still too shocked to speak or because we didn’t know what to say.

                Mom came back a minute later with Vanessa and Allen. Both were very confused and curious. They looked at me and David on the couch, then at Cathy and Lucas who were sitting on dad’s lap. Allen raised an eyebrow at that but said nothing.

“Okay mom, now that we are all here tell us,” Allen said.

Mom sat next to dad on the couch opposite from ours and looked at dad. He nodded encouraging at her and took her hand in his. Mom took a deep breath and began talking.

“I was three months pregnant when they attacked, only your father knew.”

My eyes widened and I’m pretty sure my jaw hit the floor. I don’t know what the reactions of the others were but I’m sure they were similar to mine.
