I was standing outside of Allen's door, deciding weather to go in or not. What if he's still angry at me? What if he kicks me out the house? After all, I did put us in danger. If news got around that John found his mate, the Midnight Pack would surely find us. It will all be my fault.
I brought my hand up to the door, hesitating weather or not to knock. Before I could change my mind, I knocked.
"Come in," Allen's deep voice said. I opened the door and walked in. Allen was seating in his window seat, reading a book. He closed his book and looked up at me. "You're here."
I nodded, unable to speak. I was anxious to hear what he said, but at the same time scared. Scared of what he would say to me. I looked at my fingers. "You wanted to talk to me."
He cleared his throat. "Yeah."
I licked my lips nervously. "O-okay." I took a deep breath and looked up at Allen. He wasn't angry like I expected him to be. He looked nervous. I sighed; the sooner I get this over with, the better. "Look, I know you're angry at me. You have all right to be angry at me. If you want me to be out of the house, I'll leave."
"What? No! I don't want you to leave," he said quickly.
Confused, I furrowed my eyebrows. "You're not mad at me?" I thought he would want me to leave. I put us in danger. Why isn't he mad at me? Why isn't he yelling?
"Of course I am! But that's no reason to kick you out of the house. If I kicked you out, you would be on your own. It would be easier for...them to find you."
"But, by staying here it would increase the chances of them finding you, Vanessa, and David! Maybe you should just leave me here and go somewhere else."
"I'm not leaving you behind Selene," he said firmly. I sighed. "Remember a couple of years ago when we were playing that hunting game with the Pack?" I nodded. "And how David got caught by the other team. There was three holding him, and Vanessa went back for him. She knew that she didn't stand a chance against them. She was only 10. She didn't care, she wouldn't leave him behind. " he smiled
"She was always the brave one." I laughed.
"Yeah, but do you remember what she said to him after he told her to run?"
"No."
"Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind."
"She got that from Lilo and Stitch."
"But it's still true. You're my family Selene, and im not leaving you behind."
I almost cried at what he said. Allen has never been like this before. This is one of the kindest things he has ever said. He's always been cold and strict. Ever since we got here, he seems to have gone soft. "What if they find us?"
Allen started walking to me until he was right in front of me. He put his hands on my shoulder and looked me in the eye. "We'll escape, all of us. Nobody will get left behind. We'll get through this...together, as a family." He hugged me.
"Who are you and what have you done to Allen?" I muttered into his chest.
He laughed. "It's still me Selene. I'm just more..." he trailed off.
"Softer?"
"Yeah, I'm much more softer." he pulled away from me. "I have some things to do, soo..."
