Chapter4-Diamonds

"What are you waiting for? I'm not running from you." The Kill by 30 Seconds To Mars.

I stared at the record player, the record spinning in circles continuously. The room was silent except for the music that played. I turned the volume down so only I could hear, keeping the beautiful music to myself.

I wanted to scour the place, find my friends. But I didn't know where they were nor where any of the hallways led to. I'd only been to the bedroom and the main dinning room. And the top floor but that didn't count. As far as I knew, Tommy and Aaron never even went into that part of the house let alone used it for anything.

So I was stuck in the dinning room, on the second floor of it, trying to pass the time until... well, I didn't know what. Tommy never said if or when he'd let me out. I had no way of knowing how long this could be. Days? Weeks? Months?

I'd thought about leaving on my own, when Tommy was busy elsewhere. But I knew that if Tommy wanted me, he could find me. I was sure of that. And I also knew that Tommy would hurt my friends if I left them. It was a given.

Unwillingly, really, I stayed. I couldn't be selfish and save myself while my friends could be murdered. I couldn't try to be a hero when I didn't know if it would pay off properly. I just had to endure the punishment the best I could.

"Katrina?"

I crawled from my spot against the couch over to the railing. Tommy was standing beside the table, something in his hand.

I thought about pretending I wasn't there. Either that or that I couldn't hear him. But I didn't want to make him mad.

So I stood up.

His eyes went right to me and he smiled. "I have something for you."

Curious, I walked down the steps and over to him. Though I kept a good distance between him and I.

He held out a black box, watching me for a reaction.

Hesitantly, I took it. I slowly opened it, afraid something would attack me when I opened the box. But nothing did. Inside was an old, but not cheap(in any sense of the word), earring and necklace set. The earrings were diamonds and the necklace had one diamond in the center of it on a gold chain. It was gorgeous.

I didn't know what to say to him. It was so nice and pretty but I couldn't take it from him. I didn't trust him and I didn't deserve the present. Someone who actually loved him deserved it.

"You shouldn't have bought this for me." I said.

"I didn't buy them."

I raised an eyebrow.

"They belonged to my grandmother. Since I don't have any siblings, she gave them to me to give to someone I loved."

"You don't love me."

He walked up to me and took my hand in his. "That's not to say I won't fall in love with you."

I shook my head. "That's nuts."

"Why do you say that?"

"You shouldn't fall in love with me if I don't love you back."

"You don't think you could fall in love with me?" He asked, his voice dripping with curiosity.

I shook my head, mostly clearing my thoughts. I hated dealing with boy problems and love problems and problems in general. I didn't like being in love triangles or in a dead-end relationship with someone I didn't love back. It was all too messy and too much stress I didn't need.

"Katrina, please give me a chance. I won't hurt you or your friends. I won't make this painful, I promise. You'll like it here, with me. I know you will." He said, his voice soft and seducing. Inviting.

I looked up at him and he was watching me, my expression. He took the box from my hands and pulled the necklace out.

"May I?"

I swallowed hard and turned around, lifting my hair off my neck. Tommy placed the necklace on my neck and clasped it, his cold fingertips making me shiver.

"Let me see."

I turned around and he smiled.

"Beautiful, just like you."

I took the box from him and walked back up the steps. I went to the record player and took out the record that was currently playing. I found something that was solely instrumental and turned it up so it filled the room.

Tommy moved to stand at the bottom of the steps, watching me. I walked down and stopped so I was taller than him, just a few steps separating us.

"Can I have something to eat? And a shower?"

He smiled. "Of course. Come with me."
