A couple of hours, I felt better.

I opened my eyes and found myself lying down at Sean’s bed. He was sitting on the chair, looking at me. “Are you feeling better now?” he asked.

I nodded and he came near me. He held my hand tightly like I was going to die. “I’m sorry for hurting you this way. I should have been more rational and careful.” he apologized.

“That’s alright. It doesn’t mean to me. I guess I need to clean the bathroom now.” As I stood up, he pinned my body in the bed. “Don’t overwork yourself. I’ve already cleaned the bathroom.” he said.

I laid my body on the bed and closed my eyes. “Do you need anything?” he asked.

I shook my head and he stood up, leaving me alone.

I couldn’t believe it. Sean was taking care of me despite his anger. I smiled to myself that led into a giggle. He must have been sitting there in his chair, waiting for me to get up. He must have searched some Tylenols for me to drink. At least, he returned the favor.

He cooked chicken macaroni soup for me when I got hungry. He even fed me like I was a baby. We just laughed and smiled and I lay down on the bed again after eating.

“Sean, thanks for this.” I mumbled.

“That’s alright. You know, I’ve never done this before.” he said and hugged me tightly. “I’ll take care of you, Carmel.”

When I said nothing, he added, “I love you.”

 “I love you too…” I whispered softly.

It was made official. I was Sean’s girlfriend.

I don’t know what had gotten into his mind why he announced it in front of my co-workers and to his mother and sister. Angela hugged me as if we were going to be married. Sandra walked out, while all of the housemaids clapped. Farah and Jean even gave me four thumbs-up, two from each of them.

When it was time for me to work, Farah and Jean came near me. “Hey, Carmel! You’re so lucky to have Sir Sean as your boyfriend. You know he was my crush ever since I came here, but sad to say, I’m too old for him.” Jean said.

“Yeah, me too. When I see him, he always takes my breath away. But he never even noticed me. He truly waited for you.” Farah added.

I giggled. I don’t know until when will this last. What if I have to leave him soon? My time was running out, and I have to go back as soon as the hourglass is done. It would break my heart to leave him behind and all my memories not just with him but also with the people I’ve met.

Jean nudged my elbow. “If you broke up with him, he’s going to be mine, okay?” she joked.

“Wait, he’s mine first!” Farah protested.

I just laughed at them. “Just ask Sean.” I said.

“It’s work time, girls.” Sean said from behind us.

I gasped, while Farah and Jean turned to him in shock. “Yes, sir.” They ran away and proceeded to their assignments.

He hugged me from the back. “It’s work time dear.” he said softly.

“I know. You just have to let me go.” I said, smiling at the feeling of his touch.

He hugged me tightly. “I don’t want to let you go.”

I held his arm, not wanting him to go. The days of denial had come into and end. I love Sean and he loves me. We were together now.

Sandra shot a sharp stare at us. Sean and I looked at her, but never let go of each other.
