There were two big black luggages in the living room this morning. I walked in to see them, and when I did, I saw the owner too. She was a beautiful woman, about Sean’s age. She must be a socialite, by the way she dressed and sat on the couch. I looked at her intently, dazzled by her own kind of beauty.

“Do you need something, ma’am?” I asked.

She took off her sunglasses and looked at me to answer my question.

“You must be Carmel?”

How did she know my name?

“Y-Yes, ma’am.” I stuttered.

“Please bring my luggage to my room.Sandra told me to have you help me with these.” she said, pointing to the big bags.

“Sure.” I responded and took the first luggage to her room. It was beside Sandra’s so it was quite far from where we were.

“There ma’am, I put it already.” I said after placing the first luggage in her room.

She thanked me then.

“Where’s the other one?” I asked.

“Here.” she smiled, bringing the other luggage with her.

“I decided to help you. I have a great deal of stuffs inside, and they’re super heavy.”   I smiled. She was so kind to me, not like Sean’s sister. I helped her place it in her room. I was about to thank her when she spoke.

“Nice ring. Who gave you that?” she asked, pointing to the ring in my hand.   Her question struck deep in me. After what happened last night, I still had no clue of who was the person who did this to me. I didn’t accept Leighton’s proposal yet this stupid ring slid down my finger in just a fraction of a second.

I tried to give her a clear answer.

“I don’t know.It just happened.” I said.

She faced me.

“It’s impossible for you to not know who gave you that ring.” she stated.

I smiled.

“Really. I don’t know all about this. It just appeared on my finger last night.”

We were both silent for a few minutes, then she spoke again.

“I’m Chloe. Chloe Coleman.” she said as she offered her hand for a handshake.

“Carmel Davidson.”

I answered and took her hand and shook it.   We went to the living room for a while to sit and talk. Her friendliness made up my day, and I forgot all about work. Sean came and stopped walking when he saw Chloe.

“Hey.” Chloe smiled at him.   I saw Sean’s dumbfounded face as he looked at Chloe. In my own perspective, they had known each other for years and had just seen each other again. Maybe there was a past relationship between them that Sean just smiled coldly at her.

“What brought you here?” he asked.

Chloe stood up.

“Sandra invited me to stay for two weeks here in this house. Would that be fine with you?” she said.

  Sean forced a nod.

“Yeah, why not? We’re friends, you know.”   I interrupted their conversation.

“I think I need to get back to my work.” I said and hurriedly ran to the kitchen.

Sandra met me by the hallway, near the living room.
