“Perfect.” Sandra said with a big smile as she took one last touch on my fabulous hairstyle. She looked at the mirror, and I did the same.

“Carmel, please make my brother happy. He fought all the odds just to be with you, and I’m one of those.” she said, with her two hands on my shoulders.

I touched her right hand and gave it a light squeeze.

“I will, Sandra. I love him more than anything else in this world. I couldn’t imagine myself spending forever with another man. Just him.” I said.

She smiled and hugged me tightly.

“Thank you.” she said, controlling her tears from falling down.

I smiled, and prepared myself for the wedding.

I was very happy that things between Sandra and I are now settled. When she knelt in front of me and did a long speech of apology, I was shocked and helped her stood up. Little did she know that I’d already forgiven her. We started as friends over again, and that’s when I discovered that she could be your best girlfriend ever. She even designed my wedding gown, and volunteered on my make-up and hairstyle.

Angela let me stay in the house before the wedding. She didn’t let me work as a housemaid, but treated me as one of her family. In those long months that I’d spent with them, I felt like I’m one of her daughters, not Sean’s future bride-to-be.

If I could ask one thing now, I wish time would stop, so I’d be spending my life here in this year, together with Sean. The sands of the hourglass are almost on the other side, and I wish this happiness would never end. I’ve been praying for that to happen, and if the hourglass betrays me, I have no choice but to go.

The wedding was just simple. It was held at the beach at exactly three o’clock in the afternoon. As I walked down the aisle, I saw Sean’s smile beaming at me, like I’m the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. Well, he’s the most handsome guy ever.

Sean took my hand as I stopped in front of the altar, and we faced the priest with so much love and confidence.

“Do you, Sean Keates, take Carmel Davidson as your lawfully wedded wife, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, and till death do you part?” the priest said.

“I do.” Sean answered.

The priest turned to me.

“Do you, Carmel Davidson, accept Sean Keates as your lawfully wedded husband, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, and till death do you part?”

I smiled before answering the priest.

“I do.”

“You may kiss the bride.”

Sean pursed his lips passionately against mine, in front of the whole crowd. Everybody clapped in happiness, as I gave Sean the same passionate kiss that he’s giving me.

“Congratulations, Carmel.” Leighton said after my kiss with Sean.

“Thanks.”

His cousins and Erin waved at me. I waved back, and Leighton turned to Sean.

“Take care of her.” I heard him say.

Sean smiled, a sign of assurance not just for the two of them but also for me.

“I will.”

The reception was held at Sean’s house, at their newly constructed hall near their house. The visitors were busy talking around while dinner was going on. Sandra, Leighton and the rest of the gang were with me at one table, busy talking about me and my future life. It was kind of uncomfortable for me but I guess that was just normal for newlyweds.

We were laughing like we were teenagers, and after a while, Erin asked me where my husband was.

“I don’t know where he is. Maybe he’s just with his friends.” I said, shrugging my shoulders.

“There he is.” Sandra pointed to the grand piano, which was located on the big stage.

I saw Sean sit there, and breathed deeply, not knowing what he would do next. When he began to run his fingers down the keys of the piano, creating a soothing melody, all eyes were cast on him.

Say it’s true..

There’s nothing like me and you

I’m not alone

Tell me you feel it too..

And I would runaway

I would runaway.. yeah yeah

I would runaway

I would runaway… with you

Runaway by The Corrs. My favorite song of all time. I couldn’t believe Sean was singing this song to me. I felt like going to heaven in no time. The melody was perfect, so was his angelic voice. It’s the sweetest thing that he ever did to me. It was like going back to being a thirteen-year old girl swooning over her crush.

We kept on casting his eyes on him as he continued the song.

Cause I… I’m falling in love..

With you… no never

I’m never gonna stop falling in love… with you

Close the door

Lay down upon the floor

And by candlelight

Make love to me through the night…

Cause I have run away

I have run away… yeah yeah

I have run away

I have run away… with you

As he finished the song, we were all staring at him, dumbfounded and spell bounded at the same time.

Cause I… I’m falling in love

With you… no never

I’m never gonna stop

Falling in love

With you…

He was applauded by everybody as he came down and walked to my direction. I was clapping with a big satisfied smile on my face. He never said a word then kissed my lips immediately, which made the people look at us with happiness and envy.

I kissed him back, and we both pulled away.

“Hope you like the song. I love you.”

As an answer, I kissed his lips again, much to their surprise.
