Chapter 5: Safety By Him

  "Hot coco or coffee?" I asked Jack from the kitchen. "Hot coco if you don't mind." Jack said. I got two mugs out and a tea kettle. Filling it with warm water i felt a cold nose on my leg. Tucker was siting wagging his ail as if telling me it was treat time. I finished filling the tea kettle and out it on the stove. Walking tp the pantry Tuck was right on my heels. I got the treats out and made him do tricks before giving him the treat. Once the kettle whistled I took it off he stove and poured the hot water into the mugs with coco in them. I  put a spoon full of honey in it and took the mugs into the living room Jack was sitting on the sofa watching Pawn Stars. I sat the mugs down on the coffee table and sat down on the opposite end of the sofa. Russell lft has soon as we got here. He said he had a few things to do and he would see us tomorrow morning.

I sat sipping my coco and watching Jack. He seemed so worried and concentrated like in his own little world. I cleared my throat and he looked up at me. I gestured towards the mug and he grinned. Picking up the mug he took a few sips and sat in his lap. I decided to break the silence. "So now what happened Jack?" I asked. "You are under my protection now and nothing will stop me form keeping you safe," He said. "Jack I don't want to be burden to you or Russell....." He cut me off right there with a wave of his hand. "Julie you are not a burden, far from it, I don't want to see you get hurt by Evan and his goons because of us." He said. "Thanks Jack it really means alot that you care and all," I said. I looked away from him to my dad's picture. He was the only man in my life that would do anything to keep me safe. Yeah sure Kip wouldn't let anything hurt me but not as much as Jack or my Dad. Jack tapped me on the leg and gestured me to come close.I scooted closed and snuggled into his warm body. But as soon as it happened my phone began to ring.

I groaned why does it always seem to go off in the worst moments. I got up and talked over to it. I mentally cursed at he person calling, Massie. As soon as I answered Massie began asking questions. "Where are you? Why is there a closed sign with a lame excuse on the door on the library doors? And why haven't you been answering at texts or calls?" "I am at home Mas, long story, and my phone has been dead," I answered. "Oh well at least your not dead but really I was worried something had happened," Massie said. I rolled my eyes thinking if only she knew about how many times in the last 24 hours I have came close to knocking on death's door. "Thanks Massie for the consideration," I said sarcastically. "Anyways we are going shopping tomorrow so meet us at the coffee shop by 9," Massie said."Why are we going shopping?" I asked. "Dress shopping of course for when we go clubbing for Kip's birthday next weekend," Massie answered. I face palmed I had otally forgot about Kip's big birthday bash we were doing with a few of his theater friends. Clubbing, drinking, and dancing. Great. "Oh thats right Kip's birthday is next weekend crap oka I still have the money t pay his drinks I'm good," I said. "good cause he needs to you to get drunk and laid tonight," Massie said. "Okay ill meet you gus at the coffee shop by 9," I said. after saying goodbyes and putting my phone down I strolled back into the living room. Jack was sound asleep on the couch. I brought the blanket out from the closet and put it over him. I gently walked over and planed a soft kiss on his cheek. "Thank you for keeping me safe my knight in shining armor," I said.

Aw so sweet. So will Julie tell her fins the truth about the last 24 hours or will she keep it a secret?
