The next few days, I didn't get much sleep and I was quiet. Every time I closed my eyes I would see my father's face and remember all of the things that he had said to me. I didn't want to take up his offer, but maybe it was what I needed. Another fresh start. What are you thinking, you can't just leave everything you found here and go with him. I thought to myself. It had taken me a long time to adjust to how things were done here, I couldn't just leave it all and go with the father that I barely knew.
*****
"This is it, where I grew up." Sean said to me as we walked through the small town. "It's nice, I guess." I replied without smiling. "Come on, let me show you where the house is." He gestured ahead, talking about the house that he had bought for me, with my money. Sean's father was a business man and rarely ever came home, and his mother had died after he was born so he was staying with his Aunt, who had two kids, Jack, who was our age, and Grace, who was still in first grade. His Aunt was one of the first people to know about what he did, she had expected it since Sean's father was once a delinquent as well. Sean had left out the worst details though. "Before you get settled in, I want you to meet Jack and his friends Kaleb and Kacey, they're twins." He said to me as we dropped off my things and started walking to his Aunt's. When we got to the house, he rang the doorbell and a lady who had Sean's eyes, and looked wise, like she knew a lot about the world, opened the door.
"Hello dear, you must be Bea!" She exclaimed. I flinched when she said my name. I gave her a tight smile and she grabbed me for a hug. I was surprised, Sean must have told her about what I did, and yet she was hugging me like a mother hugs her daughter. At that, I softened. I might have a chance at being normal again after all. "Come in, come in, Sean take her to Jack's room, they're all there," She said, referring to Sean's cousin and his friends. Sean nodded and led me up the beautiful wood staircase. The house had a warm feeling even though it was very big, like a mansion. When he got to the door with the name Jack carved onto it, he slowly opened it up. As soon as he opened the door, I was greeted by strong cologne, probably coming from the two boys who were standing there with axe in their hands, aiming it at the poor girl in the middle of the room, who looked very annoyed might I add. I instantly smirked, these boys seemed like my kind of people. The boys looked over at me and dropped the axe, eyes widening. The girl ran over to Sean and punched him on the shoulder, "Thank God, you came just in time, these little hoes were about to spray me with their stupid cologne." She said, sighing with relief. Then she looked over to me and stuck her hand out, "Hey, I'm Kacey!" She smiled. "Bea." I replied, shaking her hand.
She reminded me of Sean for some reason. The two boys finally came into their senses and walked over to me. The one on the left, with the blonde hair and striking blue eyes, came over to me and smiled. He probably thought he was doing wonders on me. "Hey baby, I'm Kaleb, the little bitch's brother." He smiled while putting his hand over my shoulder. "Well, baby, your charm isn't going to work on me, so you might as well back off now," I said while putting emphasis on the baby and taking his hand off my shoulder. "Ooh feisty," Said the other one with the black hair, "I like you already." He smirked while patting my head. "I'm Jack," He smiled while bumping his fist against mine. The boys went over to Sean and started to talk. Kacey came over to me and said, "Well, this is my family, how do you like it?" I liked it. I guess my time here won't be as bad as I thought.*****
I saw a hand waving in front of my face, "Earth to Bea," Kacey was saying. I shook my head, coming out of my daze. "Woah, sorry." I said to her. "Where did you go? To LaLa land or something?" Kacey asked. I shook my head and started walking towards our last class of the day. "Bea." Kacey said while grabbing my hand and stopping me. "Something's wrong, you seem so off lately." Kacey told me. "Nothing, I'm just tired, that's all." I answered.
"I don't believe it," Kacey said to me, hurt evident in her eyes. "I told you what was wrong when I was upset, Bea." She said to me sadly. "Ok, fine, I'll tell you, but you can't tell Sean." I told her. She was dating Sean now and they told each other everything. "I can't promise you that, B, we're dating now and promised each other everything." She replied. "Well then I guess I can't tell you, can I?" I said, starting to walk away. "No! Bea, fine but it depends on what it is." She said. I smirked.
We were sitting in class now, in the way back as I started to talk. "My father came into town on Sunday," I told her. She gasped and her eyes widened. "Why didn't you tell me Bea?" She said. "Let me continue." I told her while we started walking towards our class. She thought that my father had left me when I was young and my mother died when I was born. I told her what my father had told me about moving in with him. I left out the part about the gang because she didn't know about my past. At the end of the story she hugged me and said, "You should tell Sean yourself, he deserves to know, I know that he is your best friend." She said to me. "I know." I told her. "I will support you no matter what decision you make Bea." She said. "Thank You," I told her as the end of the day bell rang.

"Sean!" I shouted across the parking lot where Sean was sitting by the car, waiting for Kacey. He started to walk over to me and I got ready, practicing my speech, that I had practiced at least a hundred times now. "Is something wrong Bea?" He asked. "I know why my father left us," I told him while looking at my feet. "What?" Sean asked with a confused look on his face. And so I spilled it, everything that my father had told me, for the second time today, this time in detail.
Sean was angry now. He lifted my chin up and tried to keep his anger down, I could tell he was trying hard not to let it show. "He can't just tell you that and leave you Bea!" He exclaimed. "He put his number in my phone, he said he's giving me time Sean!" I yelled back at him. "Why are you backing him up, Bea? He hurt you so much!" He said. "He told me the reason, there has to be some time when I forgive him Sean, he's my father!" "I can't just ignore him forever!" I yelled back. He calmed down a little when he saw Kacey approaching us, worry evident on her face.
"Everything okay?," She asked. "Yeah." I replied. "I'm leaving Sean, you can come to me when you're ready to accept that I've apologized to my father and I'm not going to change my mind." With that, I got into my car and drove out with the windows down, hair flying in the wind, until it was dark. Then I sat, in the pouring rain, for hours, staring up at the sky, in the middle of nowhere, until I read the time on my watch. 12:30 it read. I heard another car approaching. The rain stopped, there was an umbrella above my head.
When I looked up, Sean was standing there with a frown on his face. "Do you know how worried I've been, I've been looking for you everywhere Bea," He said to me. I looked away, I hated how he had a scared tone in his voice, I hadn't heard for a while now. Most of all, I hated how I had made him that way. "I needed some time alone, to think." I told him. "I'm sorry for yelling at you." He said while sitting next to me on the top of my car. "I overreacted when I heard about your father, I know how much he's hurt you, and I hate to see you that way." He told me.
I hugged him. I freaking grabbed him and held onto him like it was the end of the world. Little did he know, I had tears running down my face. I was glad that it was raining, he wouldn't be able to see my tears. I held onto him for the longest time, I didn't want to let go, he was everything to me at the moment. "I love you Sean." I told him. "I love you too Bea, so much." He said back to me. "You're going to get sick from so much time in the rain," He said to me while chuckling. I smiled at him and said, "Yeah, let's go, I didn't realize how cold it was." The ride back home was peacefully silent, the sound of rain dripping on the windows calming me. That night, I finally slept a peaceful sleep without any thoughts, or nightmares, just a simple smile on my face.
