The next few days were a drag, after we had come back from the beach house, we obviously had to go back to school no matter how hard I protested. If I wanted to get into college, I would have to make up for my already missed years of school.

We had some sort of senior assembly today and I was left wondering whether it would be as bad as the last one was. It ended in all the seniors complaining for the rest of the day. You can imagine what it must've been like, with half the school being rebellious teenagers as is.

"Ugh, I hope it's not about an upcoming test or some shit like that." Kacey complained, sitting down next to me in the auditorium. "I know, I've had enough of those in the time that I was here." I complained. Jack, Kaleb, and Sean came and sat next to us, completely abandoning the sit next to your class rule. The principle was standing on the stage staring down at all of us with his balding head, petite figure, and big belly. He honestly could've passed as a Santa Clause if he had a beard, I scoffed.

"Welcome, seniors, we have an important event coming up that I wanted to talk about with all of you guys." "Now, since you guys are seniors and have been trying your hardest these past few weeks, we have decided to keep something special at this school for you all. It's going to take place this Saturday at our school." He finished. My eyes widened, I was surprised for two reasons. One, we had been trying hard the past few weeks? Two, we rarely ever get any appreciation, now we're getting a special event? I could tell that the rest of the seniors were thinking the same thing in their big ass heads.

"We are going to have a masquerade ball!" He grinned at all of us. I could already hear the girls whispering and the boys looking around for the girls they were going to ask. "Also, the seniors from St.Christian high school are going to be joining us so it's not only our school." He stated. That was the school that Hunter and Leo went to, I remembered when I heard the name.

Oh dear, time for dress shopping.

"How the fuck do you work this thing?" Kacey grunted from the bathroom. It was the day of the ball and we were both getting ready at Kacey's. The boys were all at Jack's house.

"You just clip it on where you want it" I told her while fitting my wig onto my head. We were both wearing red dresses, and decided to go all out with our hair and makeup. Kacey was putting on hair extensions and I had a wig on that made my hair look classy. It was perfect for tonight.

We were all going to go in the same car, it was a big limo that Hunter had rented from his dad's friend. This ball was a big day, they might as well have called it a pre-prom. Me and Kacey were ready now and Kacey's mom was snapping pictures of us. My favorite one was of me and Kacey turned around both of our backless dresses showing, making a heart with our hands.

When the boys arrived, Kacey's mom went on overdrive. She started taking lots and lots of pictures of us all together. Some of them were shitty, yes, but I loved them all. Kacey was going with Leo, much to Sean's despair. I was asked by a lot of boys but I decided to go with some hot jock named Damian. Hey, he promised me a good time after, and what do I have to lose? Obviously not my virginity I laughed out loud.

Somebody come get her, she's dancing like a stripper

The song Come Get Her was playing. I was hardcore grinding on Damian, who was behind me keeping up with the rhythm of the song.

Somebody come tip her, she's feeling all the liquor

I was making eye contact with Kacey, both of us winking at each other and going back to dancing.

In the next thirty minutes I was a little tipsy, since some kids had sneaked in some beer. Both schools were dancing, sweaty, and having the time of their lives. Damian had left to go get some drinks a while ago but I guess he had found some other girl since he hadn't come back yet.

It was around nine o'clock now and I wanted to take a break from all the loud music. I walked out of the auditorium and went to get some fresh air. That was, until I heard some faint sobbing coming from the corner. I walked over and saw Kacey, standing against the wall, wiping her tears away. I was never good with tears but I would try my best in this case. I walked over to Kacey and lifted her chin up. "What's wrong Kacey?" I asked her. "Nothing, I'm probably ruining your night, it's okay, go with Damian." She replied. "Kacey, you rarely ever cry, and Damian ditched me for some other girl," I told her. She looked up at me and told me to sit down.

"Sean called me a slut." She told me "It's never hurt when someone else said it but when he said it," Her voice broke. "Oh, Kacey." I frowned. Why would Sean say something like that? I wondered. "I was with Leo and I laughed at something funny he said, little did I know that Sean was behind me. I turned around and asked him what was up and he rolled his eyes." "Before walking away he said "Having fun? Slut." I broke down then and ran outside." She finished. "Now here I am," She laughed a meaningless laugh. "I'm so pathetic," She cried out. "I'm sure he didn't mean it Kacey, he must've been jealous." I said. "Jealous of what? The girl he brought with him was so much prettier than me," She told me. "You both are so blind, you guys are hopelessly in love with each other." I told her.

I was walking over to Sean now, and pulling him over to the corner by his tie. "You made her cry, you little bitch." I yelled at him through the loud music. I had left Kacey with Marian, a girl we knew from school. I had some matters to sort out. He pulled me outside and asked, "What?" "You made Kacey cry, why would you say something like that to her?" I asked him. "I don't know what got into me, I saw her with him and I just, cracked." He told me. "You're so stupid," I whacked him on the head. "Go apologize to her, I think it's time you told her your true feelings, Sean." I told him. He looked at me with the How did you know? look. I glared at him and pushed him outside.

Another thirty minutes, and lots of boredom later, I saw Kacey and Sean walk back in. HAND IN HAND. I was gleaming with joy now. I should get payed for this I thought.

Kacey smiled at me, secretly thanking me. I knew my job had been done here for tonight. But there was one more thing I still had to do. I smirked.

Smack. That was the amazing sound of my hand connecting with Damian's cheek. "I don't care that you ditched me, I didn't care about you anyways, but I just wanted to say, damn if you had a brain just as nice as your face, you wouldn't have ditched the wrong girl," I smirked at him. Walking away, I could tell that I had left him speechless. Good, I love getting the last laugh anyways.

Now, my job for tonight is done, I thought while walking back to where my friends and their dates where. The rest of the night was spent laughing, and living the fuck out of this masquerade ball.
