Song of the chapter// Devotion by Hurts
Abigail Devon's POV.....
Tomorrow was Friday.
What do I do?
Tomorrow is Friday.
What do I do?
Friday. Red dress. Answer. Eugene. My decision. What am I to do?
I groaned loudly as I banged the tray on the counter in frustration. Why was it have to be so freaking complicated? It's not the first time a guy had confessed his feelings for me. They had done it before and I had turned them before in fact numerous times for simple one reason: I didn't want to take the risk of having a heart break. So, why was it so hard for me to do it this time?
Ever since Eugene showed up on my doorstep at Christmas in an almost frozen state, I hadn't seen him much. Why? because of the snowfall at Christmas, the roads were completely filled with snows and blocked so school was closed for two days and then when the roads got cleared, Eugene was still sick so I didn't see him much at the school.
My fingers itched to call him to ask how he was doing but I restrained myself. In the state I was right now I didn't think I could handle hear his voice.
"Hey, what's gotten into you?" Scot's voice jolted me out of my troubled thoughts and I turned to him putting up a fake smile.
"Nothing, I am just tired and dying to get out of here."
"Are you sure that's the only reason?" he quizzed looking at me curiously.
"Yea, that's the only reason. What else could it be?" I replied looking anywhere but him. Why was it so hard to lie to people looking straight to their face?
"Ok, if you say so. Anyway, I forgot why I was here. Julie is here to see you. She is outside waiting for you."
"What? Julie? When did she come?" I asked excitedly. I didn't know she was back. She told me she and Chris were coming back after New Year.
"Five minutes ago and when you go, take these two coffees with you that she had ordered." He replied handing me a tray with two cups of coffee. I smiled and headed out of the kitchen door when he called again.
"What? Did she order anything else?" I asked turning around.
"Uh, no she didn't. I was just wondering......what your plan is for New Year?" he asked nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh, uh, I don't know but Selena was talking about some party so I think I am going with her." I answered. "What's your plan?"
"Uh, I guess I am also going for a party." He smiled.
"Ok." I chuckled awkwardly as I didn't find anything to say to him. "I will just go then." I said and headed out of the kitchen to where Julie was waiting. It was not hard for me to spot Julie as she always chose the corner sit whenever she came to visit me here at the café.
"Julie!" I cried with joy as soon as I reached her table.
"Abigail!" she smiled and jumped up to engulf me in a hug but I stepped back. "What?" she furred her brows.
"I don't want to spill the coffee." I said gesturing towards the tray I had in my hand. I placed the coffee on the table and then engulfed my best friend in a bone crushing hug.
"I missed you." I said.
"I missed you too." She replied happily. "You can take a break, right?"
