Song of the chapter// Look outside by Nat and Alex Wolff

Eugene Hansen's POV.....

"Green apple."

"No, red apple."

"I said green apple."

"And, I said red apple."

"Green."

"Red."

"Green."

"You are being childish."

"Me?" I scoffed.

"Yes. Everyone knows that green apples are healthier than red apples." She argued.

"It's you who's acting childish because you are just not ready to accept the fact that it is indeed the red apples are more healthier and tastier than your dull green apples." I stated firmly. "So, we are taking red apples."

"No, we are taking green apples."

"Can you two kids just cut it out and choose already. I need to buy stuffs too and you two are blocking my way." A mature female voice broke through our bickering. Abigail and I stopped to look at the source of sound to see a mature woman, maybe around mid-forties, shooting us daggers holding a trolley filled with groceries.

"Sorry." Abigail muttered, sheepishly. "We are just finished." She said grabbing some green apples and I reached over to grab some red apples before looking at her.

"We are taking the red ones." I stated sternly.

She narrowed her eyes at me menacingly. "No, we are taking green ones."

I heard the lady watching us huff irritably and just as I was about to retort back, the lady intervened. "Why don't you just buy both apples? That way you both get what you want."

I looked at the woman then back to Abigail to see her in thought as she contemplated the suggestion the woman gave us and all I could think was 'why the hell I didn't think of it earlier?'

"Ok." Abigail said after a moment of thinking. She then looked at me for my decision and I nodded, tossing the apples into the trolley. The woman sighed in relief as we gave her a sweet smile and walked past her to the reception desk to pay for the food.

"I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier." I murmured under my breath, annoyed.

"That's because you are an idiot." Abigail retorted playfully earning a glare from me.

"You were not supposed to listen that. Don't eavesdrop."

"One, I didn't eavesdrop. You are walking right beside me. Two, if you don't want me listening you should start practicing on your whispering skills. It truly sucks."

"Or maybe it's just you being too nosy." I countered, smiling when she glared at me through her eyelashes.

"Shut. Up. I am not nosy, you idiot." She slapped my chest one last time before stomping toward the reception desk. Chuckling to myself, I happily followed her knowing all too well about the smile in her lips which she'd tried to hide from me before stomping. She was too sweet for her own good.

After a lot of pestering and persuading and convincing, she let me pay for the groceries for her. I knew she still wasn't happy but she let me have it just for this once. I could never understand her stubbornness to refuse any kind of financial help from anyone.

"Hey, did you get any call from Jonathan regarding the case?" Abigail asked as I loaded all the stuffs in my car.

I shook my head. "No, but I had a talk with him last night. He said they got some lead but aren't confirmed for sure. He will call me as soon as he knows."
