Song of the chapter// Never be alone by Shawn Mendes
Eugene Hansen's POV....
"This sucks. I can't eat anymore." Julie whined, pushing the bowl of soup away.
"C'mon, don't be difficult. This is good for your health and it's not as bad as you are saying." Chris pressed trying his best to make her eat some more. It had been over an hour now that Chris had been trying to make Julie eat but to avail.
"Then, why don't you eat it yourself?" Julie scowled turning away her face when Chris brought the spoon near her lips.
"Julie, please. Just few more spoon, please?"
"Jesus, just finish the damn soup already." I huffed annoyed throwing my hands in the air. "You are being so dramatic, Julie."
"No, I am not dramatic. I just want some real food." She stated, defiantly.
"How can you be so cruel? Look at Chris. Have some mercy over him."
"I am not cruel." Julie chucked a pillow in my direction but I caught with ease before it could hit me which aggravated her more.
"Ok! Ok! Stop it now." Chris intervened before our childish bickering would escalate to another level which by any chance was totally impossible because Julie just couldn't be mad for longer than ten minutes. "Let's make a deal. If you finish this soup, I will persuade your doctor to allow you to have some real food."
Julie's face beamed like a small five year old kid who would beam when they would get something they wanted. "You will do that for me. You are a sweetheart. I love you." Julie exclaimed happily, kissing the side of his head.
Chris chuckled. "Only if you finish this soup." Julie didn't say anything, just took the bowl of soup and started slurping like a good small kid. I smiled, shaking my head at the same time Chris looked at me.
"What?"
"Uh." He started nervously. "You should g – go."
"Go? Where? Do you want me to bring something?" I questioned, puzzled seeing the nervous expression in his face.
"No, I don't need anything. You should just leave."
I raised my eyes. "You are kicking me out." I mocked dramatically, placing my hand over my heart, pretending to be hurt. "You wound me." I was so busy in acting that I didn't feel him approaching until I felt a sting at the back of my head.
"You are such a drama king." He muttered under his breath. "Anyway, what I mean is you should go to Abigail."
"Now? She must be asleep."
"No, she is not. She is at work. Her shift will be over in about twenty minutes." Julie replied from the bed without taking her eyes off of the soup.
"Yup." Chris replied popping the 'p' before a solemn look crossed his features. "I talked with Julie about this a few days ago and we both want you to spend some time with Abigail. Recently, you have been spending all your time with us that you two don't even have time to talk properly. I can't be selfish anymore. I thought about it and I think I can manage for at least one night. You need a break."
"But, buddy—"
"No buts and ifs, Eugene." Julie said keeping the empty bowl down on a tray. "You are going to Abigail right this instant and that's final."
"I agree." Chris said.
I looked to Chris then to Julie, back and forth until I sighed and caved in. "Fine, I am going."
