There she sat, looking out the window of her best friends car, replaying Cage's words over and over in her head
Aspin drove silently, occasionally looking over at her friend, who looked so defeated. A look that unsettled Aspin, who always saw Jasmine as one of the strongest people she knew
When Aspin had first picked Jasmine up from the beautiful apartment complex, she was bubbling with curious questions, but the moment that she saw her best friend run out of the building in nothing but a baggy shirt, the need to get her out of there was overpowering her curiosity
Now she sat silently, looking over to her, only when she could no longer hear her uneven breaths
She didn't ask anything, or push her to talk, or even touch her. Something about her frowned eyebrows and her constant picking of her nails, told Aspin that she was lost deep in thought. Even if Aspin asked any questions, she probably wouldn't answer her. So instead of pestering Jasmine, Aspin remained silent, sure that Jasmine would eventually confide in her and when she did, Aspin would be there to listen and comfort
For now, Aspin just drove around their town. She never stopped at a single place, but she knew that somehow this made her feel better, when she wanted to just calm down and take a breather. She thought maybe it would also help Jasmine
After an hour and a half, Jasmine had laid her head against the window and closed her eyes
It took Aspin a little while to realize that Jasmine had fallen asleep
Even in her sleep, Jasmine looked confused and a little angry
By then, it was nearly 8 in the morning. She knew that Jasmine would have to go over to her house to change into something else, before Jasmine went home to her dad
It was his day off and if he saw Jasmine in the state that she was, he would start asking questions and Aspin knew he couldn't do that
All she was worried about was Jankin, who would probably be home by then. As she got closer to her home, she wondered if he was sober or not
It would be the first time that Jasmine had seen the was Jankins behaved himself when he was drunk. If Aspin was honest, it wasn't too different from when he was sober. Honestly, Jankins Henry was a dick
But Jasmine had had the privilege of meeting Aspin's biological parents, before that passed. Jasmine had loved them. She had also been able to see the difference between how Aspin's parents treated her and how Jankins treated her. It was sad and pathetic
To her parents, Aspin was a princess, but to Jankins, Aspin was nothing but a rag doll
Only a couple of more months and Aspin would be completely and totally free from Jankins Henry. But at the moment, she needed to walk but her friend and silently get her into the house
Aspin slowly turned to her side and softly shook Jasmine, who quickly woke up
"Yeah" she asked, rubbing her eyes
"We are at my place" Aspin smiled, try to mask her anxiousness. Something that Jasmine had always been able to see through
This time, Jasmine didn't say anything. Aspin aas thankful. But she didn't miss the glimps reasurrence that said 'it's okay' in Jasmine's eyes
As they approached the front door, Aspin couldn't help but be taken back to the first day Jasmine had come over to her house, while she was under Jankins 'care'
