So Jonah agreed to tutor me because he wanted to use me for his plan. To fight against the flaws of our school system. I honestly do like his idea at the moment but if I think what will happen to my future, I would probably end up like my parents. But I do want to help him in some way.
"Jonah. Why are you holding a grudge against the school? Well more like the system. I get that it seems like we're all in our own cliques but you know that stuff only happens because nobody has the guts to mix with each other."
Jonah gave me a look like what he just heard will never happen. "I'm serious. Before I came to this school there were kids smart, dumb, jocks, and more who were all friends with each other. I've seen it even though I wasn't part of it."
"Well that was in your other school. Here it exists and it isn't just the cliques I'm also talking about the system."
"But right now you may think being expelled is a good plan but what about your future?" I knew that got him. Jonah was just quiet so I sat there looking out towards the road. We were in the alley of the school just talking.
Throughout my life it's been hell. But I've always managed on my own. Now that I got Jonah to help me out, it's like some weight has been lifted off of me.
"I guess we should head back to class," Jonah got up and began to walk towards the doors. I stayed in my spot for a few more minutes then I followed behind.
.....
When I got back home I saw my door was cracked open. I know I didn't leave it opened all day...I got my phone out ready to call the cops and opened the door wide open. I wasn't going to go in and get robbed. I'll wait out here for the cops.
"911 what is your emergency?"
"My apartment has been robbed. I'm standing outside of my place. Please hurry,"
"Don't worry, we are on our way."
I leaned against the wall looking inside. Then I remembered Ollie. I was too afraid to go in but I'm really worried about Ollie. "Ollie!" I called out his name three times and finally I saw him come running.
"Oh Ollie you're alright!" I gave him a big hug. I don't know what I would do without him. He was licking all over my face and I was laughing.
It wasn't long until the cops showed up. We all went in to see what was stolen and my apartment was torn apart. Everything was turned upside down and all of my stuff were scattered everywhere. I had to look around and see what was stolen but it looks like nothing was.
"Thank you for everything officers," I closed the door and turned around. There was a lot to clean up but I can do it. "You ready to clean Ollie?" and I got a bark in response.
While cleaning, I've been wondering why someone would break into my apartment and not get anything. Were they looking for something? I just don't get it. Ollie distracted me by barking. It looks like he brought me something, I picked up the paper and read it.
.....
The next day at school I was totally out of it. I couldn't concentrate on anything after reading that note. Its those kind of moments where I wish someone can save me from all this crap. It was lunch time and I decided to sit alone rather than with Caleb.
"Hey Kee are you alright?" I looked up and saw it was Caleb. I nodded my head in response and looked back down at my sandwich. "You don't look alright," He sat down in front of me and began to talk.
He's been talking for five minutes straight and not realizing that I'm getting annoyed. I got up and said, "Look, I'm not in the mood alright? You've been talking and haven't stopped. You know people find that annoying at times," I said it rather bluntly. Walked off not caring of what he thinks. From that point on I didn't like Caleb anymore. I didn't like anybody.
Honestly I don't need any friends. They all leave you once they're done with you. I don't want to put myself through that. When I was in middle school I saw that happen to this girl.
"Hey want to eat lunch with us?"
"Sure!" I was just a witness. I knew I couldn't do anything. The girl and her 'friends' went to have lunch and I was sitting near them. I overheard their conversations and I noticed the girl never talked to them. The other girls would just get her lunch and eat it.
It was like that everyday and I felt bad for her. Then one day the girl said she didn't bring her lunch and the other girls looked sad then left her. I was going to the girls bathroom then I looked over my shoulder and saw those friends talking. Then around the corner I saw the girl listening.
"She didn't bring her lunch. Oh well, we don't need her anymore. We should just go now," When I heard that and saw the girls' reaction, I felt bad for her.
Actually after the friends left I went to console that girl. But she ignored me and ran away. I felt worse that day.
Now I know you're wondering how I go from being grateful to having a friend to not wanting one at all. Well yes, I am grateful for Jonah who listened but I won't be saying anything else to him. He's an acquaintance and that's all he'll ever be. He admitted he wanted to expel me just to prove a point and that's not a cool thing to do.
And who knows, he may have a back up plan to get expelled and drag me along with him. I'm not going to allow myself to get close to anyone ever again. That was one time and it will only happen once.
.....
Throughout the day Jonah was talking to me and I didn't listen. I eventually had enough of it and told him straightforward. "Jonah you know we're not friends right? If you think we are then think again. Listen, I told you about my parents because you were there and you listened. Thanks again but that won't happen again."
I got up and left the classroom.
