Ms X exploded. "MR KAI, YOU CAN JOIN YOUR LITTLE FRIEND IN MR. SMITH'S OFFICE FOR THE REST OF THE CLASS"

"Very well" I said calmly. I looked at the guy with the motorcycle, who looked back at me with what seemed to be a mixed demeanor of confused and impressed.

Anxious as I was about what was to come, I walked to his office happily. Kee was here. And she seemed fine. In fact, she seemed better than ever....

...I knew I developed feelings for Jackie Kee Jones.

As I rushed to the office, I tried to catch up with Kee, but I sensed the stranger with the motorcycle following me.

"Hey, kid. Don't worry about it! I can talk to the principal and help ya out." he said with a wink.

I didn't really think I needed some mysterious man vouching for me, I figured I could handle Smithy myself.

"Hey, what I did doesn't really have anything to do with you. You really don't have to be concerned about me. Mr. Smith and I know each other pretty well enough to-

"Nonsense, kid! What's your name?" he looked at me and asked.

"Uh...Jonah. Jonah Kai" I answered.

"You're in Jackie's class, right? Do you two know each other pretty well?"

"Uhm...more or less...how do you know her?" I replied.

I was kind of amazed that Kee actually...well...knew people.

He replied, "My mom is a close family friend of Jackie's mom. Our families were really close. Jackie and my sister, Candice, would have play dates when they were really little, and Jackie's mom actually offered to pay me at one point to watch over Jackie. I would've, too, but our neighbor at the time was in need of the money more than I was. Boy, was she something. We went to the same college, and I had an unbelievable crush on her. So, I decided to sacrifice the money and give the babysitting job to her. And boy, she did an incredible job taking care of Jackie, way better than how I would have! I think I would have-

"Wait" I quickly said, interrupting him. This guy really liked to chat. I'm surprised Kee was friends with him, he seemed way to cheery for her. But he did catch my attention.

"So...this girl-..neighbor of yours...is your crush?" I said, empathizing with him.

"Nope. Now she's my girlfriend." He replied, with a smug smile on his face.

Wow. Sheesh. Figures why he's so happy.

"Wow! Good for you!"

I wanted to ask him how he did it, but I didn't want to act like I cared too much. This guy was already pretty proud of himself. No need to fuel something that wasn't empty.

Soon, we approaching the principal's office. I walked in.

Sure enough, Mr. Smith and Kee were in the middle of conversation. Smithy quickly turned to glare at me.

"Mr. Kai, why are we here so early in the day today?"

Mr. Smith then shifted his gaze to Evan.

"Good morning Doctor Evan"

Woah, Smithy's tone just drastically shifted from deadly intimidating to peachy sweet in an single instant. It's like the man is both the bad cop AND the good cop"

"I want to thank you again for caring for my daughter. I really want to repay you,"

"It is no problem Mr. Smith" Evan, or Dr. Evan as I apparently had just found out, cracked a smile with more happiness in it than the average person will ever have in a lifetime.
