I walked home thinking of that note. I don't get why people go through the trouble to destroy someone's house and then leave a note to say, "You're next." What do they even mean by it? I got home and saw Ollie with his leash in his mouth. "Missed me buddy?"
I took Ollie out and I wasn't really looking where I was going, all I know was I ended up in a nice neighborhood and all the houses looked so big and expensive.
Then Ollie ran forward and jumped onto someone. "Ollie!" I was close enough to see who Ollie jumped on, Jonah. I was about to grab Ollie but I took a closer look at Jonah's reaction and he looked so scared. So he has a fear of dogs? That's hilarious. I let Ollie "attack" him for a few more minutes.
"Okay Ollie, lets go now." Ollie came to me and I left Jonah on the ground before he saw me. It took me awhile to find my way back home but when I did I saw all these cops around my building. I walked towards a neighbor I recognized and asked what was going on.
"Someone is holding a person hostage in the third floor near your apartment and they won't let him go." Near my apartment? A guy? I tried to get a little closer to try and see the guy and when I saw the figure was near the balcony I got a good look at who the hostage was. It was my childhood friend Thomas.
"Thomas!" The cops looked at me, "You know him?"
"Yeah he's my childhood friend. Please save him!" I saw the guy hold a knife to Thomas's throat and I began to freak out.
"Kee! I know you're down there. I want you to come up if you don't want any harm to come to your friend." Who is this guy? I don't know anyone else from school except Caleb and Jonah then there's Thomas. "Officer, I have to go up there. I can't let anything happen to Thomas."
"We can't let you ma'am. If you go up you'll be at risk too. We're already trying to save your friend," He has a point but I can't just not do anything! I decided to make a run for it. I ignored the cops call for me to come back and ran up the steps as fast as I could.
I had to catch my breath once I got to the top. "I'm here. What do you want?" The masked guy turned around and looked at me in they eye. "I want you to stay away from Jonah. Don't ever talk, look, or even be next to him. Got that?"
What he asked for was one of the ridiculous things I've ever heard. "I can do that. Now let go of Thomas,"
"I have a feeling you won't. So to make sure," Then he stabbed Thomas on the side of his stomach and ran away. I knew there was no other way to escape except the stairs which would lead him right to the cops but I didn't care. My focus was on Thomas who was bleeding so much.
"Thomas! Stay with me now, don't close your eyes." I yelled for the cops help and they sent some people up to get Thomas. I saw that he was closing his eyes slowly so I slapped him across the face. "Ow!" He yelled holding his cheek, "I'm sorry but I had to do it. You were closing your eyes,"
"But you could've just yelled my name rather than slap me!" I ignored his whining and let the cops take care of the rest. I followed them to the hospital but before that I had to leave Ollie at home. It's crazy that something like this happened. Could he be the same guy that left the note in my apartment? It's obvious he goes to my school because he told me to stay away from Jonah and I don't think Jonah would know anyone from outside the school.
I feel like I've heard the masked guys voice before but I can't figure out where from. If I heard the voice again then maybe I'd be able to but right now I need to get to the hospital quickly.
.....
I sat next to Thomas in the hospital room. I haven't moved an inch because I've been worried sick. The doctors say he'll recover but they're not sure when he'll wake up. I called his aunt and she wants to be here but I told her he's alright, I don't want to give her a heart attack.
Anyways, it was already morning and I cared less for school. The nurse had come in and asked if I should be in school but I lied and said it was teacher work day - which worked of course. Soon enough, Thomas woke up.
"Thomas! Are you okay?"
"Yeah. But why are you still here?"
"Someone had to look after you."
He rolled his eyes at my comment. He looked around and his face was in disgust, his expression was saying he'd rather die than be here. I'll explain why he hates hospitals but that'll be another time. I got his mind off it and began asking him some questions.
"Why did you even come here?"
"I decided to go on a short vacation and come here." I knew he was lying but I let it slide, I'll find out the truth sooner or later.
"Well before you had woken up the nurse said you are discharged after you wake up."
"Good. And I'm sorry,"
"For what?"
"Um....the bill?" Damn. I forgot about the hospital bill. "Alright I'll pay for it. But you owe me,"
