chapter 17: safe place

As Dan and I were roaming around the park my pocket started to buzz.

"One second ...." I held up my index finger and excused myself.

"Hello!" The voice was loud and obviously agitated.

"Hello..." I was very taken back by the person's sudden outburst.

"Y/n... thank gosh your OK!"

It was Mark... "why wouldn't I be?" I rolled my eyes annoyed at mark's "fatherly" actions. His been acting different lately. Pushing me further away ... after what I did.

"You didn't tell anyone that you were taking a walk!"

"Why should I! I'm 16..." I propped myself up my cocking out my knee and placing my hand on my hip.

Mark voice hitched "get home now..." my eyes widened... I messed up. I ended the call and dashed towards Dan .

"Help me!" I started to speed walk as I grabbed a hold of Dan's sleeve .

He pushed me off of him " what the bloody hell is going on!"

"MARK!" I trembled at the thought.

Dan chuckled "y/n what did you do!"

I crossed my arms and pouched out my lips. "Stop laughing!!" I turned my back side to Dan. Not wanting to see his face.

He placed his hands on my shoulder "I'm sorry... Now what did you do?" He looked down at me with sympathy.

"I back talked mark..." I lowered my head in shame.

Dan face turned red from holding in laughter... then it all exploded out "you what... omg ... im dieing! Y/n why do you wanna run away. Just go home he loves you and is just fearful that you might get hurt ."

I shook my head and starred at the ground "I can't "

"Oh stop it and come on"

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder pulling me close towards him . I felt safe, content, loved!

I laid my head on his shoulder "thanks..." I looked up at him and offered a smile.

"No problem..." he smiled back down at me and tapped my nose.

I finally found my safe place.
