12. Cheating Death

( Yeah... I know the chapter title sounds... Different... Eh? )

Lilly's POV

"Are we seriously... NOWHERE near this stopping point?" Garroth complains.
"Well... According to the map... It says... That we need to go across some sort of--"

"Bridge..." I gasp seeing a long long bridge in front of us.

"Yeah! Howdis you know?!" he asks. He takes down the map in front of his face. He gasps as well.

"HEIGHTS HEIGHTS HEIGHTSSSSSS!" Laurence squeals.
I chuckled.
"Oh you goofs..." I say.
Michael was right. After last night I felt much better today.

I walked in front of them and take a step on the bridge. I take one more step.
"So far so good." I say aloud.
I carefully let everyone by. Than it came to Laurence. "On come on Laurence... Its not that bad... The key is to not look down and keep going!" I encourage.

I slightly look down and the scary part was I couldn't even saw the ground.
"O-okay..." he stutters.
He takes a step on the bridge and it creaks.
He tried going back but I swiftly grabbed his hand.

"Your gonna half to learn the hard way than..." i say. I pull him across half way and I look back to see him pale.
"Laurence... You are not going to want to ma-- Aaaaah!" I scream as one of the boards break me through.

"LILLY!!!" Laurence yells trying to grab my hand.
I quickly grab the bridge and grab Laurences hand only to slip away from his grasp.

"NO NO NO NO NOOO!!" I yell.
I felt the air blow at me like crazy.
"LAURENCE!" I shout. It was no use. I was pretty much a goner...

I cried softly as I could see the ground from a distance.
"Please... Please... Please..." I repeated.
I shut my eyes tight waiting for impact.
But nothing hit.
The wind didn't blow as hard either.

I open my eyes and see I was levitating right near the ground. Only about an inch away from it.
"THANK THE HEAVANS!" I shout. It catches me off guard and I plop on the ground.

I stand up. "LAURRRRAAAANCCCE! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" I shout throughout the revien.

Dippers POV

"W-what?" I stuttered.
"N-n-no... NO she isnt.... Please God." I said starting to feel a tear stream down my face.
"Dipper..." Mabel said.

I walked away. Far enough to be alone. "WHY?" I shouted.
I can't even....
I burried my head in my hands.
"Ow ow ow ow... DIPPER!" I hear and look up...

Lilly's POV

No one can hear me! Climbing it is...
I pull off my over shirt and the it around my waist.
I used to rock climb before I was adopted.

We had once went on this field trip to the rock climbing place near the orphanage.

After that I just got into it. That was until I was adopted at age 9.
I wasn't allowed to after that.
In a way I liked it better when I was in that orphanage.

I picked up my sachel and looked through it. Everything was there.
I start climbing up after putting it around me. In the beginning my arms did sting a bit. But it went away after a while of climbing.

I was almost there and I could here voices.
"This is my fault..."
"No... Laurence it--"
"STOP ACTING LIKE ITS NOT! YOU KNOW ITS MY FAULT! STOP TRYING TO SPARE MY FEELINGS!"

I hear. I'm close. At this point I could see the top. I could see the trees.
As I grasped onto the grass so I wouldn't fall backwards, I pull myself up and lay back on to the grass.

"Okay......" I whispered out of breath.
I was breathing heavily.
"This is my fault... She's dead because I was being paranoid.
Dumb and scared. I got her killed." I heard Laurence whispering in the tent.

I sneak in and he doesn't bother looking up.
He just kept tormenting himself.
"I told you to leave me be..." he finally says still facing the ground.

"Sure ya don't wanna look up?" I say. "I--" he freezes after looking up.
"I'm okay... Laurence. I lived." I say crouching down to sit next to him.

He squeezes me, embracing me.
"I am so s-sorry... Lilly..." he whispers.
"There's nothing to be sorry for... Laurence... You tried the best you could. That's all I care about." I explained. He lets go and smirks at me slightly.

But it goes away just a few seconds later. "You need to talk to Dipper and Michael.
They are probably as much of a mess as I am." he says.

I hug him one last time and exit the tent. Then I am met up with Michael. He shoots up and hugs me as tight as possible.
"I knew you weren't gone." he says.

This was the first time ever hugging him.
My brother.....
I squeeze back.
"What do you mean you knew?" I asked.

"Lilly... I think there's something we don't know about our selves. Something.... Sending off an aura. I guess. But lets not get into that now." he says.

"Agreed." I say and he chuckles lightly.
"I'm so glad you are okay though. I was worried..." he says and lets go.
I weakly smile.

Then I head off looking for Dipper...
I see him sitting up against a tree head in hands.
My heart sank.
"No.... Please God... No no no no...." he whispered to himself.

"Dipping sauce...." I say. He looks up to face me. "Y-your not r-real... I'm j-just hallucinating.
It's all a fa--"

I cut him off after sitting down next to him and grabbing his hand.
His tear stained face broke my heart.
"It's not a hallucination Dip. I'm okay... I survived." I say.
He starts to cry again.

I could tell he was shaking.
He tried to calm himself down but it wasn't working.
I pull him into an embrace and he cried into my shoulder.

"Thank God y-our o-okay..." He whispers. He lets go and I cup his face. "Please don't cry Dipper..." I say.
I was starting to tear up.
"Because your gonna make me start to cry...." I say. He wipes the tears off his face after I let go.

"I love you Lilly... Please don't ever leave me like that again..." he says.
"I promise... I love you too... Always..." I say helping him stand up.

Once he does, he pulls me closer to him and we kiss.

( Yeah... I decided to add the mushy stuff... Some of you are pukeing and some are day dreaming of that being you...
And then there's that 5% of you just in awe for a split 5 seconds then want to read the next chapter. XD )
