Luke's POV:

"Man I don't know what I'm doing anymore." I say, putting down my whiskey.

"Damn it Luke. Don't make it so complicated. She's just some girl." Jordan slurs as he sips on his drink.

I turn to him, frustrated, drunk, and pissed off. "She's not just some girl you worthless fuck. If you ever say some shit like that again, I will fucking end you. I love her, asshole. She's perfect- her smile, her eyes, her scent, her laugh- everything about her is extraordinarily perfect. So fuck you."

"Well then, you can get your own weed, dick." He scoffed, placing money on the counter and walking out of the bar.

I sigh, in realization that I won't be smoking anytime soon. As time passes, I order five more drinks. I look out the window, seeing the darkness come on. My phone rings. Reluctantly, I answer.

"Yeah?"

"Mr. Hemmings, it's 1 o'clock in the morning, your mother will be upset with you if she finds out you were out this late. Shall I call you a taxi?"

I respond, with my headache gradually getting stronger. "No I'll just walk home, it'll be a nice walk. Thanks for your concern Winston."

I pay for my drinks and exist the bar. I automatically regret saying no to a taxi. The cold bites my nose as I make my way home.

I walk the long way, along Ellicity's flat complex.

I imagine her walking on the sidewalk; with her long brown hair flowing behind her; with her sweet smile glued onto her beautiful face; with her eyes sparkling in the sunlight. I can't believe I thought I had a chance. I'm a druggy with a guitar. She's a princess with a voice, a face without imperfection, a personality that could give life. I ended up leaving, making her okay. And that's all that matters. My heart is cold and incapable of love. I'm broken for her safety. And it's better that way. For her.

Here I stand, a sorry sucker, on Elli's front porch. I don't know why or how I'm here, or what I'm going to say, but I just need to see her. Just one more time. I clear my throat and knock on the door, instantly opening it. Confused, I walk in.

"Hello? Ellicity?"

No answer.

I look around. I see the pictures of her and her late sister on the wall. I smile, seeing young Ell hugging her little sister in her arms, like how I used to hold her. Fuck. Why am I thinking about myself?

Where is she?

I walk into the kitchen. Melted cookie dough ice cream and a spoon on the floor. Her favorite flavor.

What the hell happened here?

"Ellicity!?" I call.

I run upstairs, desperately searching. I go into her bedroom.

Nothing.

I look around her room, searching for something, anything. I go to her washroom.

Blood. On the sink. The wall. The shower curtain. Everywhere.

What the hell.

I stand, in complete shock. I pull out my phone and dial 000, shaking uncontrollably and crying.

"H-h-hello?"

"Police, fire, ambulance?" The machine asks.

"I, um, police." A calltaker comes on.

"What is your emergency?"

"I t-think something happened my girlfri- I uh, I mean, ex-girlfriend."

"Sir, call down. What is your address?"

"311A/569 George Street. I don't know where she is and there's blood. Oh my God, there's blood everywhere. Please just send someone. I love her."

"We will. In the meantime, please stay on the lin-" I hang up.

Fallen to my knees, I sit with love-soaked tears running down my face. "Ellicity..." I manage to say through my drunken sobs.
