c h a p t e r 13: Serendipity

        I woke up feeling cold and alone. I turned around to see Luke was gone. I got up to search for him. "Damn where is that kid." I mumbled to myself as I walked through the massive hallway. I turned to bump into his butler. "Oh dear, I apologize. Did you sleep well ma'am?" he smiled greatly. "Yeah that's okay, it was my fault, and yes I did, thank you. Do you happen to know where Luke went?" I asked. "I think he may have said something about going to the coffee shop; the one by the name of Stardollars I presume?" he said. "Starbucks you mean." I laughed. "Yes, yes. That place." he chuckled. "Alright, thanks."

         I went back in Luke's room to change into something presentable. I wore Luke's blue denim button-up over my Nirvana t-shirt, and my black leggings paired with black heels. I pulled my hair into a braid and applied light makeup.

        I walked out the door to find a limo waiting outside. I slowly neared the black vehicle. The drivers door opened and a tall man appeared. He walked to my door and opened it. Now, I did what anyone else would do, get in the limo.

        I had no idea what I was supposed to look forward to. I patiently waited, clenching onto my phone in case 911 was a required option. Many thoughts scattered about in my head, and my sister's death was something I didn't want to think about. If I thought of her, my heart would stop it's current pattern. I wouldn't be able to shake off the pain.

        My thoughts came to an end when the car slowed down in front of the coffee shop. I reached to open my door, when the same man opened it for me. "Thank you, I guess?" He said nothing and walked back inside of the upmarket car and drove away. I looked around to see no other cars parked in front of the Starbucks, other than Luke's.

        I walked into the fresh coffee-smelling Starbucks to find Luke standing at a familiar table. He was dressed in an all black tuxedo and had flowers. I walked to the small coffee-table and slowly walked to him. "Luke, you wouldn't have anything to do with the creepy guy in the limo, would you?" I asked uncertain as to what just went on. "Sorry he's new, he's a bit on the quiet side too," he apologized, rubbing the back of his neck. "What's the special occasion?" I asked with a puzzled look, staring at the bouquet. "Wait, is it someone's birthday? Is this a surprise party? Who is it fo-" He kissed me. "It's not anyone's birthday," he whispered. "Well then what?" I whispered back.

        He took my hands and stared into my eyes. "Ellicity Edwards, in that very limousine, was the first time I layed my eyes on you. In these past exhilarating months I've spent with you, I learned your heart. Ell, here at this very spot, I fell hundreds of miles for you. My love for you is indestructable, habit-forming, and inevitable. There has always been a place in my heart for you, and I can only hope there is room for me in yours. Ellicity, will you be my girlfriend?" he finished, letting out a breath.

        My heart fluttered like humming birds, and I was beyond crying at this point. "L-Luke... that was the sweetest thing a-anyone has ever said to me.." I smiled through my tears. Luke hugged me and I buried my face in his chest. I looked up at him. His face had a look on it and I could tell what was on his pretty little mind. I smiled. "Of course I'll be you girlfriend you idiot."
