The Next Season

Chapter 15, Aftermath

The next morning I awake with a massive headache. Guess I got pretty wasted last night. I sit up to quickly, increasing my headache even more. I look around the room, to realize it’s not my room. Not my color of walls and not my bed. Plus, I don’t remember a guy being in my bed either. A small screech escapes my lips, accidentally moving my body backwards, causing me to fall of the bed with a thud. I pop my head up to look at the guy to notice that it’s just Koda sleeping. Koda? I slept with Koda last night, but how? I remember drinking but nothing more. Oh please, please make it so I didn’t sleep with him. But then how I could I, I’m fully clothed and so is he. I quietly tip toe across the room and out the door. The house is completely trashed of beer cups and sleeping bodies. I make my way into the kitchen and make myself a glass of milk and toast.

“Morning.”  I turn around to see Emily, John’s sister walking in.

“Good morning.” I say to her.

Emily grabs a bowl of cereal and the milk jug, then takes a seat next to me.

“Last night was pretty hectic.” She says.

“At least you can remember. I blacked out on most of it.” I say to her.

“Haha. Wish that happened to me half the time. John went around look for Noah and I to make sure we won’t have sex. Half the time we just gave him beer to relax him and leave us alone.” She says.

“Did you guys do it? If you don’t mind me asking.” I say.

“No I don’t mind and yeah we did it. After ditching john through the house, we snuck out to the backyard and did it. It was nice under the stars.” She says.

“Wow, must have been pretty stellar.” I give a small laugh, though she laughs to.

“Yeah pretty cheesy, but nice line. You still have your v-card?”

“Yeah I do.” I mutter quietly with my head bowed down.

“Oh too bad. Hope you lose it soon.” She says.

“What? You serious?” I ask back.

“Well yeah. Girls at our school don’t stay virgins long. And if guys know it, then they will be after you for sure. Except the lacrosse team might help you out here and there.” She says taking a gulp of cereal.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I’m not losing it until I know I’m ready.” I say back to her.

“When you’re ready for what?” John says walking in with my brother Colton.

“When I’m ready to play in our first game.” I say quickly to not raise suspicion.

“Sure you are.” Colton says making food for himself.

“Emily, where did you and Noah sneak off to?” John asks.

“Just outside to watch the stars.” She says so casually.

“Sure. “ He says sitting down.

We all sit here in complete silence till John speaks up.

“How was your night Kara?”

“It was fun. Danced most of the time.” I say back. Colton just giving me a look of suspicion.

“Kara, we will need to leave soon. Dad wants us home soon.” Colton says getting up.

“Okay. Let me go to the bathroom first.” I get up and walk upstairs.

 Deciding to go check on Dakoda instead. I walk into the room and he’s not on the bed, so I check the bathroom. I guess I didn’t hear him speak, so I just barged right in. Dakoda is standing peeing in the toilet in front of him. While I stand there with the door open with wide eyes.

“I’m so sorry!!” I shout slamming the door shut.

“It’s ok I guess.” He says back.

I cannot believe I just saw Dakoda’s friend in action. Gross!! I wait in Emily’s room till he comes out.

“Don’t you knock?” He asks.

“Yeah, but I didn’t hear you.” I say back.

“Alright. What’s up?” He asks me.

“Just about to leave, but I wanted to tell you thanks for a great night and bye.” I say to him.

I walk outside and into Colton’s car. He pulls out of the driveway and heads for our home. We arrive home soon after, but to find that Landon is gone off to class, dad and Chantal are at work, and the other two we are not really sure.

“Kara, remember we have practice in two hours.” Colton says yelling up the stairs.

I walk into my room to see Asher on my bed.

“Excuse me?” I say to him. I cross my arms and lean against my door frame.

“Hey, sis. How was the party?” He asks.

“Good, now get out of my room. I have practice soon.” I say to him.

“Fine, I don’t get it why you play that sport. It’s just stupid.” He tells me as he walks by.

“Not like football. But then again your just a dimwit.” I say.

He gives me a death glare and then walks out of my room quietly. I plop down on my bed and decide to take a quick nap before practice.

“Kara. Kara, wake up!”

My eyes flutter open to see Colton above me. I prop myself up on my elbows and stare at him.

“Kara, it’s time to go.” He says.

“Ok, let me grab some shorts.” I get up and grab a pair of short black sport shorts. I change into them quickly and then we head off to practice.

Today is the Varsity team practice and let me tell you it’s stressful and hard as hell. As the team runs around doing constant drills while yelling and shouting at each other about where the play is. I run up the field passing the ball to one of my teammates and then running back into place. Reese catches the ball and cradles it in his stick. He passes the ball up to John, before Rylie (from jv guard) blocks him. John catches it and goes into shoot the ball for the goal. Score!! 

"Alright guys everyone in!" Coach yells out to us. 

We all circle around him waiting for his speech. 

"Great job out there today guys. Now, our first game is on Monday evening. There will be a small practice tomorrow at one to three in the afternoon. Please show up to our game Monday an hour before, game starts. Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys." Coach says. 

I grab my stuff and head off towards Colton's car. He starts the car and heads off towards home. We reach home and immediately walk inside to do some relaxation. Thinking a hot bath with bubbles and music. :)
