Chapter 40, Girls Day

Kara's POV

I leave the house along with Sage and Asher. Meeting up with Colton who's giving me a death glare. Probably for scaring him for my disappearance. I open the back door of the car and climb into the seat. Asher took the seat next to me in the back, while Sage takes the passenger seat. The car ride is quiet, except for the hum of the car and the soft sound of the radio playing. I can see Colton glaring at me through the rear-view mirror. 

"Yes, Colton?" I ask him. 

"Nothing." He bitterly snaps back. 

"Just thought you're upset at me or something?" I answer back. 

"Nope." He monotone says to me. 

"You sure?" I ask one more time.

"Yeah." He diminishes. 

Colton continues on down the road closer to home. I wonder whats got him mad? I lean my head against the cool window. Starring out at the blurry trees and a few random kids playing, passing by. Within twenty minutes, we finally make it home. Colton, turns off the car and storms off quickly into the house. Soon followed by Sage, Asher, and I. We walk in to see Landon and Dad hustling around for a few things. 

"Great you boys are home! We need to get our suites!" Dad expresses while trying to look for something.

"What are you looking for?" I ask him. 

"My keys, sweetie." 

I look over to see them on the counter. I pick them up and swing them around on my index finger, walking back to my dad. 

"Here they are dad." I tell him. 

"Oh thank you sweetie! I'll see you and Chantal later tonight. Bye." Dad says before giving me a kiss goodbye.

"Guys come on! We're leaving!" Landon shouts near the front door.

Following behind him are my step-brothers and Colton. Shutting the door behind him, leaving me in an empty house with a woman marrying my dad. I walk upstairs to my room and plop down on my computer chair. I open my computer up to Tumblr. After awhile, I log off my computer and head downstairs for some food. 

I walk into the kitchen to see Chantal cooking something on the stove. Her green eyes turn to look at me. 

"Hey there! What's up?" She says with a smile. 

"Just hungry. What are you making?" I ask her; lifting myself up to sit on the counter. 

"Just some Mac'n'cheese. Want some?" 

"Sure." I said. 

Chantal finishes adding in the milk and sauce, then distributes equally into the bowls. I take my bowl into the living in front of the tv. Chantal follows behind me, taking a seat on the other end of the couch. 

"You have any plans today?" Chantal asks breaking the silence that fills the room. 

"Nope, not really." I say keeping my eyes on the lacrosse game on tv. 

"Well, would you like to go shopping or something? Get to know each other more?"

"Shopping sounds fun." I tell her. 

"Good, we can leave after we eat." She says. 

We continue to eat our food making small talk about the game. I'm really impressed that she can understand most of the stuff going on. I take my last bite into my mouth, then I get up to put my bowl into the sink. 

"Ready?" Chantal asks, placing hers in the sink as well.

"Yup let's go!" I say. 

Chantal and I climb into her car and speed off out of the driveway and down the road. Thirty minutes pass by, and then we pull up to a large building and a parking lot. I climb out of the car and walk with Chantal into through one of the doors into the mall. 

"Where would you like to start first?" She asks me.

"Let's do Wetseal!" I say grabbing her hand, pulling her into the store. 

"This place has such cute stuff." Chantal says grabbing shirt, "I think I'm gonna like this store." 

"Good." I smile while looking around at some of the shirts. 

I grab a few short sleeve shirts, a pair of pants, a few shorts, and some tanks to try on. I meet up with Chantal to see her with a few clothes in her hand as well. 

"Got some things to try?" I ask her. 

"Just a few, let's go try on." She says, leading the way to the dressing rooms. 

Chantal and I continue shopping through Tilly's, Abercrombie, Papaya, and Victoria Secret, before heading home. 

"I had an awesome time today. Thank you." I tell her. 

"No problem. It feels nice to have some girl time. Don't get it much with the boys." She laughs out. 

"I bet. They don't get anything about fashion." I laugh out. 

"Nope. When they were babies, I use to dress them up all the time. They were so cute!" She squeals.

"Hahahahaha." 

"Yeah, they were my little diva boys back then."

"The whole attitude and everything?" I ask. 

"Yup. Especially Sage! He would do the walk and pout the lip out as well." she says. 

"Omg!" I laugh out loud. 

"Thanks for a great day, I had fun." Chantal says with a smile on her face. 

"Me too." I tell her. 

Chantal parks the car into the driveway and then we carry all our bags into the house to meet a group of boys sitting on the couch watching tv. 

"There you girls are! We were wondering where you girls were at." Dad says. 

"Kara and I decided to go shopping for the day." Chantal says walking over to dad and giving him a kiss. Eww!

"I see you went to Victoria Secret, get anything?" Dad says grabbing her bag. 

"For later. Kara and I had fun in there. It was a nice day."

"Hope you didn't get anything to bad." Landon says. 

"That's for me to know and you boys to NEVER know." I say walking up the stairs. 

"What did you get?" Colton shouts up the stairs.

"Girl stuff!" I say with a wink and head into my room. 

I set my bags down and start put away my clothes. While shopping, I got six shirts, eight new pairs of shorts, a pair of shoes, and some bras and underwear. I will say, that shopping today with Chantal was really nice today. Felt nice to have a "mom" to do that stuff with.
