Edward looked down at DeAnna's unconscious body as he started crying. He sobbed, "That should've been me doing the battling! If only I had my full use of alchemy, though. Now my precious DeAnna is unresponsive. Please don't die on me, DeAnna!" The Elric brothers heard a knock at the door so Alphonse went to answer it. This time, it was May at the door. She excitedly shouted, "Alphonse! I'm so happy to see you! Did you miss being with me now that I'm your girlfriend?" Alphonse blushed as he nodded then he asked if he could use May's help. He explained that there is a princess residing in his home and she's injured. May asked, "Have you been seeing other girls or is there something you are not telling me, Alphonse?" Then Alphonse explained, "She is more interested in Edward, not me. But please, she needs medical help and I know that you're educated on this stuff." She smiled, "I can take a look at her, can't I?" Alphonse agreed so they both went inside.
Zoe was whimpering sadly as she was curled up in a ball on the ground next to DeAnna's bed where her human master was resting. May saw Zoe and screamed, "What a beautiful chimera! It's so cute! Can I hug it?" Edward told May, "Be very careful, ok?" Then after May was giving Zoe affection, she saw the fallen butterfly princess who was lying down unconsciously. She slowly undressed DeAnna after she advised the Elric brothers to leave the bedroom for privacy reasons. Then she saw that DeAnna had a few deep piercings in her skin from taking hits during her battle. She sighed, "Dear young butterfly princess, all of us are here for you. I will give you medical treatment for you to get well again."
Edward got his jacket on after May told him about DeAnna's deep wounds so he was worried. Alphonse asked, "Where are you going, brother?" Edward answered, "I am going to see Nurse Clara so I can give blood to DeAnna. She told me during a discussion alone with her about what DeAnna's blood type and I did some research to find that my blood is compatible with her's. As much as I hate needles, I love DeAnna enough to give her the gift of fresh blood from my beating heart." Alphonse and May wished Edward good luck as Edward left the house. It took a few miles, but Edward got to the a new clinic that Nurse Clara worked at just fine. He explained the situation and that it was an emergency so he gave the clinic his address on who or where the beneficiary of his blood should go to. Nurse Clara had Edward lie down on the patient's medical bed as she poked Edward's arm to draw blood. The only thing that kept Edward from panicking was the hopes that he could save DeAnna. Then after Nurse Clara bandaged up Edward's arm, she offered him a snack and he agreed because he'd need the extra strength. Then Nurse Clara told him, "I am about to close the clinic for the day so I can give you a ride home and have your blood transferred to your friend's body, if you'd like." Edward agreed then he pointed out the directions until they got to the house safely. They both ran indoors so Edward asked May, "How is DeAnna holding up?" May replied, "I haven't seen such a wounded young lady in quite awhile. I've put damp cloths over her wounds to soak up the blood then I used medical alchemy to help seal her injuries before infections took place. It's only a matter of time before we find out if she will live or die." Edward began to cry again so he sobbed on DeAnna's body, "I am so sorry, DeAnna! I'm here for you, no matter what. All I want to see is your pretty smile once more." Nurse Clara asked Edward, "Did you forget about your own gift of blood for her? I can transfer it to her body so there still is a chance that she will survive. She may look lifeless, but you need to have faith that she is fighting her injuries while she is resting. This girl would not give up and die since she knows you are right by her side so let's save her together." So Nurse Clara hooked up the large bag of blood and attached a tube to DeAnna's arm. Edward spoke, "I want so badly for you to live. You can beat these injuries so be strong, DeAnna! As a way to show how much I love you, this blood being transferred to your body is from my heart. I hope you can make it through this, but please keep fighting this for me. You've proven that you fight well and you took us by surprise with your alchemy tactics in battle so don't give up!"
Then Edward kissed her forehead as he said, "I love you, DeAnna." A few days had passed and DeAnna was starting to revive. She slowly got out of bed and was no longer injured. Edward and Alphonse went to buy groceries so DeAnna wrote a note then left it on the counter. As Edward and Alphonse came home with groceries, Alphonse noticed that DeAnna was missing. Then Edward read the note that said, "I hear the beach is refreshing to visit today! Please meet me at the beach, but I only want Edward to show up. If Edward cannot show up, I understand. For now, I will be waiting for my mighty protector's arrival. Sincerely, DeAnna." Edward thought to himself, "I wonder what she wants me at the beach for? Hm....I guess I should go check it out because I would never let DeAnna down." So he ran out to the beach to look for DeAnna while having curiosity on why the beach and what she was up to.
