Edward had finally made it to the beach as he saw DeAnna patiently waiting for him while she was wading near the shore. Edward called out, "DeAnna! I'm here." DeAnna turned to face him then she sighed happily, "I knew you'd come see me. You've never let me down, Edward. What I have to say takes a lot of courage for me, but I want you to listen. But first, do you remember my first encounter with you?" Edward giggled then he said, "Of course! I was swimming and a giant wave knocked my body into you. Your reaction was not very confident, but you've changed so much after I trained you to become the well-trained butterfly princess that you were born to become. Now, I release you to fly and find that special guy that your heart has set on." DeAnna shook her head, "No! I have already found that special guy. He was the one who guided me into believing in myself and allowing me to have the courage to try being myself. He also healed my wounds and taught me many worthwhile lessons in life. Edward, I'm in love with you. I may be very awkward at times and I may have a naive personality to say or do things that I don't mean to do deliberately, but I understand if your feelings about loving me aren't the same way I feel about you. To be honest, I don't want you to be just my mighty protector anymore. What would make me the happiest girl in the world is if you would accept me as your girlfriend."
Edward was shocked at DeAnna's courage so he answered, "DeAnna, I want you to be my girlfriend. I've secretly had feelings of love for you ever since we first met, but I also believed in you this whole time. What I want is for you to be happy so if I accepting your love confession is what will make you happy then I am proud to call myself your new boyfriend." DeAnna's eyes grew wide opened as tears of happiness began to show. She cried, "I am so happy! Thank you, Edward!" Then she briefly started to glide in the air as she tackled Edward to the sand with her on top of him. Edward hugged DeAnna and said, "You are such a cute girlfriend!" DeAnna blushed as she helped him up from the sand then they walked together while holding hands. Then DeAnna inquired, "Would it be possible to go on a date tomorrow?" Edward nodded as he smiled in agreement. DeAnna thanked Edward then Edward kissed DeAnna's lips while standing at the front porch. Alphonse cheered, "Way to go, Edward and DeAnna!" Then DeAnna cheerfully told Alphonse, "Edward is my new boyfriend!" Alphonse gave Edward a thumb up and smiled, "You finally won her heart. Take good care of DeAnna, ok?" Then Edward turned towards DeAnna and requested, "Please be nice to me, DeAnna." She agreed then she went to bed.
The next morning, DeAnna woke up early and went into the backyard. She found a vacant patch of lawn not occupied by flowers so she clapped her hands together to create what started as a vine. Then she used water alchemy from her antennas which made the vine become a big tree that grew instantly with two branches. Edward yawned as he walked into the backyard and saw the tree. He asked, "Did you plant this tree? If so, it's beautiful and very healthy. I can tell you put a lot of love into it." DeAnna repeated to Edward from one of his first lessons he taught her, "A wise trainer once told me that a friendship or even a relationship are like two branches on a tree. They are two different people, but one bonding partnership that must stay together in order to grow strong." Edward grinned as he patted DeAnna's head and praised, "That's right! That was very sweet of you to grow that tree to honor our new relationship." Then he continued, "What nickname would you like me to call you?" DeAnna answered, "You can still call me 'DeAnna' or 'Butterfly Princess' if it's easy for you." So Edward agreed. DeAnna asked, "Can I call you 'Little Eddy'?" Then Edward's eye twitched as he replied embarrassingly, "Please don't call me that! I hate being called 'little' by any means!" So DeAnna smiled, "I will just call you 'Edward' then." So Edward agreed then he kissed DeAnna's forehead and said, "Thank you. I appreciate your willingness to call me by my actual name. Now let's get you some waffles and fruit for breakfast because Alphonse is making a big meal for us! Our date can be whatever time works best for you afterwards, but I want you to choose the place." DeAnna giggled as she skipped to the back door. Edward held the door and politely told her, "Ladies first!" So they went inside to have breakfast.
