Chapter 24: Creating A New Generation

      Several months had passed since Edward's and DeAnna's wedding.  They have been very supportive towards each other every step of the way.  One morning, DeAnna and Edward went to the library together then they went to see a marriage counselor afterwards.  DeAnna asked the marriage counselor, "Is there any possible way for me to have children with Edward?  I feel that he will be an excellent father to our future babies.  But we both have at least one automail leg and I'm scared that it might complicate that fated night when I try to mate with my husband."  The marriage counselor asked, "Edward, do you feel in your heart that you can be a suitable father to provide for your future children if you should impregnate DeAnna?"  Edward nodded, "Yes.  I will be the dedicated father that my biological dad never was.  I'm going to be a man and be the daddy that these future children deserve to have in their young lives!"  The marriage counselor smiled, "Very good!  I'm going to send a referral to a doctor so they can see if both of you are able to have children or if either of you has a non-functioning body to allow children."  

        So they were handed some paperwork and they went to a doctor nearby to be seen for compatibility with child birth.  With much success, both of them found out they are able to have children!  So as DeAnna held Edward's hand, she had a big smile on her face.  DeAnna told Edward, "I am ready."  So later that night, DeAnna was getting a white gown on which represented purity.  Edward was wearing a blue robe that represented cleanliness.  DeAnna got in bed first and Edward soon followed.  He said, "I want you to be comfortable."  Edward mated with DeAnna that night.  A few hours had past and both of them were asleep.  It was a romantic night, but it also made DeAnna unaware of what would lie ahead.  

        Once the sun had risen, Edward had gotten out of bed while DeAnna was still conked out.  "Isn't that so cute, Alphonse?  My wife is still sleeping like an innocent princess!"  Alphonse commented, "She must've had quite a fun last 24 hours or so.  I've got some hard-boiled eggs and some biscuits when she wakes up, just in case she's hungry."  DeAnna finally woke up after awhile and her stomach started to hurt.  "I don't feel so good, Edward.", she said.  Alphonse asked, "Are you up for some breakfast?"  DeAnna ran into the restroom and threw up in the toilet.  "Odd. I had no idea she would be sick the next morning.", Edward commented out of concern.  Alphonse inquired, "Do you think DeAnna could be pregnant?"  Edward sighed, "Could be, but I'd like to get a second opinion from the doctor before we go calling DeAnna's bluff."  

        So Edward called Nurse Clara over for a visit to see if she could give DeAnna a pregnancy test and Nurse Clara agreed.  Within 20 minutes, Nurse Clara arrived.  She instructed DeAnna to go into the restroom and gave specific instructions to her.  DeAnna followed through, but she didn't understand what the results meant so she handed the device to Nurse Clara.  "Well, what is it?", Edward and Alphonse asked out of concern.  Nurse Clara smiled as she put her hand on Edward's shoulder then she exclaimed, "Congratulations! DeAnna is going to be a new mommy!  You should be proud because you are going to be the father, Edward."  So then Edward cried happy tears as he hugged DeAnna and said, "This is the best day ever!   Thank you for allowing me to be the father of our future generation!"    DeAnna blushed with happy tears as she replied, "You're welcome.  No matter what, we must raise this child together."  Nurse Clara giggled then she told them, "You are having triplets so there will be 3 babies!" 

        Edward fainted after he heard that he was going to be the father of 3 beautiful children, but DeAnna used water alchemy from her antennas to wake him up.  Nurse Clara told Edward, "As their father, you must help DeAnna make wise decisions about her behaviors and her diet.  You want those children to turn out healthy, right?"  Edward nodded then Nurse Clara told DeAnna, "As an expecting mother who is carrying 3 babies, you need to mind your emotional well-being for the sake of your future children.  Please stay away from excessive use of medications and substances, but especially no alcoholic beverages!  Using alchemy is ok for chores or healing, but no battles or you stand the chance of complications when you finally give birth.  Your babies will thank you for taking care of yourself.  I will reveal their genders in a few months so good luck to both of you!" 

        Alphonse volunteered to buy healthy foods including fruits, veggies, whole wheat bread, juice, non-caffeinated tea, and more so he went to the store while Edward stayed behind.  "I can't believe we are going to be parents!", Edward commented as he started to revive from fainting.  He added, "You are going to be a mommy, DeAnna!"  Then he hugged DeAnna again.  She asked, "Do you think that flying or hovering is ok?"  Edward got out the instructions and Edward replied, "No flying or hovering during pregnancy."  Then he handed the instructions to DeAnna.  "I see.  Well, I guess I'm back to where I started with not being able to fly so I hope this will all be worth it."  Edward smiled, "Of course it will!"   Then he kissed DeAnna's lips and Edward commented, "I can give you those hard-boiled eggs and biscuits if you are hungry.  Is that ok?"  DeAnna's stomach growled so she answered, "Time to feed the babies in my belly!"  Edward praised, "That's my girl.  Good mommy skills!"  So DeAnna ate her breakfast and she drank some water to wash it down.  After she ate, DeAnna was sleepy again so she took a nap.  Edward smiled, "Sweet dreams, DeAnna!"  Then he shut their bedroom door as DeAnna slept.
