"Shane? Shane Thompson. Can you see or hear me?"
He nodded his head. I buzzed the doctor in.
"His response?"
"Positive. He comprehends. He nodded."
"Shane? This is your doctor speaking. The girl next to me is your nurse. She will be nursing you back to your old life. She's going to help you back to health. Her name is nurse Cole. How are you feeling?"
A shake of the head saying no let us be aware of pain. He was getting some identification of answering us.
"I'm nurse Cole, you need more sleep and we will start tomorrow on getting you back to health."
I put in another liquid bag and he slowly drifted off. I kept an eye on him for the rest of the night. The doctor gave me pointers on how to help him with communicating and regaining everything back. From now on, I was on my own until it came to his checkup every day. Me and him alone was making me feel a little off but I had a job to do. Love couldn't be any part of this. I left his room, shutting the door behind me. Finishing my shift, I went to Lucy's. Later that night in my dreams, there was something I couldn't keep from dreaming about. Shane Thompson.
