I stared up, still in a daze, puzzled, trying to figure out what was going on. I pulled out my phone, checking the time. Three hours still left of work. He repeated my name wondering why i wasn't responding. I grabbed my buzzer to call the doctor in. Finally, I came back to the world and a ton of questions cam flooding through my mind. The doctor came in and started asking a million questions, just as astonished as me."He's suddenly responsive?" I nodded my head in response, still in a daze. He seemed curious of why I was staring at him. Understandable."And his vitals?" I instantly started my job back again and checked his vitals and his liquid bag. His liquid bags were going by really quick so i noted it down on his file."He's going through many liquid bags. Maybe his immune system is very strong, but that is also very rare." He nodded his head, skimming through the file."It sure is indeed. Communicate with him and clear everything up. I will be back in the morning to check on him and when you're back on shift, we will discuss what needs to be done. Then we will put the plan into action. Contact his parents for me and let them know just as much as we know." I took a moment to reassure myself and then i took in a deep breath. This was going to be very interesting.

"Shane, this is your nurse. Can you hear or see me?"

"Yes, but i'm not real sure what i'm doing here."

"Well, you've been in a car accident. You will have to remain here for a month at the most. I need to know how you feel, though. How are you feeling Shane?"

"I'm in a little bit of pain, but it would be a six if i had to rate it on a scale."

It seemed like he knew the scale process which made it easier. We were able to skip that step and move on to more important things.

"Okay, well I can help you with that but you need to keep me updated on how you feel. I work here on night shift so while i'm gone I will find another nurse that will take good care of you while i'm gone. Do you have any questions?"

"What exactly am I going to have to do while i'm here for a whole month, maybe more?"

"That's a very good question. You'll be learning how to walk again because the wreck has impaired your walking. You'll be too wobbly if we let you go now, they are too weak. Plus, you'll have to get your eating back on the regular schedule."

I left the room and I called his parents. They were very excited to hear that their son was progressing with his health, but they were terrified for how the outcome would be. They were scared for what could happen and if he would ever go back to his old life. But I didn't know what his old self was. Maybe I didn't want to know or maybe I did.
