I had all my boxes in my car and on the trailer. I was ready to leave for NYU. My mom hugged me a little bit too tight and told me she loved me. She made sure to let me know that I needed to take car of myself or she would come up there and do it for me. I looked down the road hoping that Shane might be coming down the road. He never came. I thought maybe he would come in his truck and tell me not to go or kiss me again. I got my hopes up and suddenly I realized that I had become that person. The person who expects dreams and fairy tales to become my reality. I brought myself to the point I told myself I would never come to. Although, it brought me Shane. I drove away from my little town, passing Lucy's. Memories flooding back. All I could do was look forward to the big building and make my way to NYU. I would begin my life without Shane and start something new. I didn't know if I would ever see him again and he didn't either. All I knew was I would never forget him. Never. He was my unexpected love.
