As soon as he woke up, he felt around the bed and realized that it was empty. He sniffed around the room at the aroma of bacon, pancakes, and sausage. He came down the stairs, looking over at the table and the selection of breakfast he had made his mouth water. He wiped his mouth with his hand and pulled out a chair to sit down. I sat down the bowl of strawberries and the can of whip cream in front of him. I knew that's what he loved on his pancakes. I just wasn't sure how this breakfast was going to go.

"I need to talk to you."
He gave me a concerned look.
"Anything."
"I have been accepted to NYU. I have to leave in a week."
He looked at the wall blankly. His eyes began to tear up.
"Why didn't you tell me this before?"
"I didn't want to hurt you and I didn't even expect to fall in love."
"You should have told me about this! How long have you known?"
"Before we started dating."
"Did you just not want us to be together? You just wanted to be with me to feel good for five seconds. Right?"
He was telling now. A tear went down my face.
"Get out."
