Flowey stared from his place on the bedside table at the human sleeping, Alphys' words plaguing his conscious, making him unable to sleep. He could see them taking soft breaths, their chest moving slightly with each intake and outtake of air. They seemed so peaceful... almost like they were-

He quickly shook that thought from his head as tears started forming in his eyes.

'I... I need to stop them...'

After this thought passed, the human began to stir. Flowey held his breath, hoping that they were just trying to move into a more comfortable position. Hoping it wasn't time for them to begin another 'experiment'. Luck didn't seem to be on his side as their eyes fluttered open, showing dull and tired looking (e/c) irises.

They gave a slight yawn before looking where Flowey stared at them. "Morning Flowey... did you sleep well?"

His expression remained stoic as he ignored their question and instead asked on of his own. "How ya feeling?"

Another yawn was his response before looking at him with a sleepy smile. "Happy you're talking to me again."

The flower's expression never changed as he watched the human trying to sit up, yet was struggling. "I think you should stay in bed today..."

A hiss in pain was his reply as they finally were able to sit up on the bed. Another small yawn was out before their (e/c) eyes turned to him. "Why is that?"

"Have you looked at yourself in the mirror?"

A flash of annoyance flickered across their face along with a clench in their chest before laughing it off. "Don't like how I look Flowey?"

Heat flooded his face in embarrassment and frustration as he looked away from them with a scowl on his face. "That's not what I meant stupid! When's the last time you ate... or slept... or even showered?!"

Their forehead scrunched in thought before shrugging with a small smile. "After the project you can make sure I eat and take care of myself."

Flowey shook his head. "You're a horrible liar."

(Y/N)'s eyes narrowed in confusion. Their sleepy mind couldn't gather any information to solve why Flowey was scowling at them. Anger, worry, and fear seemed to be fighting an internal war in his glaring gaze. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play a stupid guessing game with me. I know what this project is."

They gave a frown, still not understanding what he's trying to get at. "Dr. Alphys ruined the surprise? I told her not to."

"I don't want you to do it. You need to back out of it. Now."

This caused them to shake their head, a small smile forming on their face. "We're so close though. I can't stop now Flowey."

"Did you ever think of asking me? To ask me what I wanted?"

"I tried two months ago when I came back to see you. Remember? You started getting angry before I could finish though, and you had every right to be angry." They gave a sad smile before giving a small sigh. "Whatever happens, I deserve it."

Dr. Alphys' words rang in his head loud and clear. She was right. He should've listened until (Y/N) finished. He shouldn't have let his anger take over, then he wouldn't have lashed out at them.

They wouldn't be laying on their death bed for him.

"Don't say that! I'll be d*mned if you actually are trying to think badly of yourself!"
