Very slowly eyes opened to reveal a dark shape watching intently. Confused and slightly scared, they put on a scowl to hide their emotions. "I can see you stupid!"

"Still the same attitude... different body though..."

The dark figure walked over to the side of the wall, a click sounding as light suddenly filled the room, blinding them temporarily. With a few seconds and repeatedly blinking their eyes, they could now see the reptilian scientist getting a clipboard and sitting across from them in a desk chair.

Alphys remained staring at them with a look of interest, reminding them of how they were first created by her due to the "determination" injected into them... how they looked at them with the look of a scientist having accomplished something impossible. In other words, it was incredibly creepy that she was sitting there studying them again.

Their scowl grew even more at her stare. "Don't you have anything better to do Alphys than study me like a lab rat?"

She gave a shrug, not even bothering to look up from her clipboard as she jotted down something they couldn't see. "The procedure seems to have gone well. I'm surprised actually."

Confusion filled their senses and it was obvious in their voice, making them slightly annoyed. "Procedure? What procedure?"

"The one I told you about. It seems to have worked." She looked up with a soft smile. "Welcome back, Asriel."

His blue eyes widened in disbelief, the pace in his heart quickening at an incredible rate. Slowly, he looked down at his body sitting in a chair. If he didn't hear it with his own ears, he wouldn't have believed her considering his body was... well... more matured? He looked taller and his voice did sound deeper. There was only one way to know for sure and he gently and hesitantly reached up in the hair and felt the hair on his head to feel something with a rough texture, tracing it to find it curled towards the back of his head into a point near the end of it.

He had horns...?

Alphys seems to have seen how he was studying his form and spoke in a soft and confident voice. "I seems you became the age of the soul donor. I'm not completely sure why... but you're now (y/a: your age)."

"Soul donor...? You mean (Y/N), don't you?"

The scientist gave a small nod and now a feeling of dread had settled into his stomach. Quickly he shot up, staggering a bit on shaky legs as he raced out of (Y/N)'s room and towards the laboratory. His breathing came out in pants as he tried to quicken his pace; to see for himself if you were there and walking around, smiling that bright smile of yours. Then he'd yell bloody murder at you for breaking your promise... again...

He turned the corner, almost falling from the slippery surface as the metal door slid up, revealing the lab with some operation tables. From there, his heart gave a painful lurch.

There your body lay, you looking asleep and peaceful, yet your skin looked far too white to be normal.

The quick pitter-patter of footsteps soon followed behind him to reveal Alphys, gasping slightly for breath. Asriel wanted to snap at her... to scream and blame her for the death of the one he cared about the most, but the constriction in his throat prevented this from happening.

Tears were gathering in his eyes as he took slow and hesitant steps towards your unmoving form.

"They're in a comatose state. Their vitals are doing pretty well so they may have a chance in pulling through."

"How big of a chance?" Asriel asked in a broken and hurt tone, scared of what the answer could be.

"Fifty percent. Their determination seems to go on for quite a while in their soul. If they have the will to live, then they should wake up. It might be a bit though."

Slowly, he walked over to your form not making any indication of being alive all except for the beep of the heart monitor. He looked over his shoulder to Alphys. "These examination tables comfortable enough to lay on?"

Alphys gave the newly-changed monster a frown in confusion before giving a nod. "Yes... w-why?"

He gave a nod before grabbing another table, thankful that it was mobile, and rolled it directly beside the humans while connecting the two. The fangirl side of Alphys was barely being controlled at the display Asriel was showing (Y/N). It shocked her as well at the amount of emotion he held for you even though he only contained half a soul.

Asriel glanced back at the scientist and rolled his eyes in an obvious sign of annoyance. "I'm not leaving them. If that's a problem then that's too bad, isn't it?"

She shook her head with a small smile. "I'd rather you did... you two are connected permanently after all..."

With that, when Asriel was laying beside (Y/N) on his own area, staring at you, Alphys walked out the doorway, flicking the light switch off while doing so.

(E/C) eyes tried to train on the never-ending darkness; to try and see something. You honestly don't know why you're trying though. You've been trying to escape for who knows how long since there's no sense of time wherever you are. All you can remember is the procedure; the pain following, part of your soul being in a clear tube, then your body began to grow numb and your eyelids began to grow heavier and heavier before ending up where you are now.

Tears began to form in your eyes as you thought the worst.

'Is this... how I die...? Alone...? Now I know what Flowey was going through....'

With that thought it seemed to depress you even further, making you go even more numb at the thought of remaining here forever.

Feeling all hope lost, you slowly fall onto your knees before crying and sobbing, knowing you were going to end here, where there's no one to see you die or disappear.

In your sorrow you were unable to see a figure shrouded in black approaching your vulnerable form. Pity filled their chest seeing you like this. With a small breath, they opened their eyes to reveal their right eye glowing a bright orange while the left was glowing a bright blue.

Gently, they lifted their left hand that swirled with an orange and blue flame surrounding it. You gave a shocked gasp as you were slowly lifted off of your knees and into the air, your soul being pulled upwards. Your (e/c) eyes widened in hope at seeing the two different color eyes resembling the skelebro's, but were proven wrong as you found that the one being holding you mid-air was someone you had never met before.

"My child..." A voice that was a bit shaky and deep rang in your mind. "why is it that you are crying? More importantly, why are you here...? It is not your time..."

Your gaze looked in curiosity at the man who you now could see more clearly. His face seemed disfigured and his hands both had gaping holes in the both of them. His body was unable to be seen due to the darkness all around you. The man who resembled a skeleton... no... not resembled... was a skeleton, highly resembling both Sans and Papyrus remained patiently standing as he slowly lowered his glaring hand and softly placed you on your feet.

"I-I..." You took a shaky breath before wrapping your arms around your torso as if you were trying to hold yourself together and tried to keep your gaze on his own as not to appear rude. "I gave up h-half of my soul to someone... who n-needed it... so I ended u-up here."

The man's facial expression remained stoic yet the voice in your head sounded genuinely sympathetic. With a small gulp, you spoke in a quiet voice. "S-Sorry but... who might you b-be sir...?"

"Do pardon my rudeness," The man then held out a hand to which you eyed wearily. "Pleased to meet you, human. You may address me by the name of Gaster."
