Chapter 2

"It's so nice to meet you Liam." She says.

"Mr. Payne." I correct her.

Her smile drops and I know she found rude my correction. I barely knew her, how dare she to call me by my first name?

"Oh excuse me, my bad Mr. Payne." She said with irony.

I swear she rolled her eyes. Who does she thinks she is?

"Follow me Mr. Payne, I will guide your through this place." She tells me.

She begins to walk. I start to wonder if she works here, she is not wearing any uniform like the other nurses but she seems to know this place like the back of her hand.

She introduced me a few kids all of them with minor diseases. They were just here for injuries playing sports, allergic reactions or appendicitis.

"The hospital tries its best to make their time here the best. Thanks to you donation we are getting a clown once a week so they can be entertained. We also were able to buy new movies and toys for the kids. They love that." She told me with a lot of passion on her voice.

"Do you work here?" I ask surprising myself.

"No." She answers.

"Then what are you doing here? Why do you know this place so well?" I ask.

"I'm a volunteer here. Someone of us likes to help." She said abruptly and I feel like she was trying to hint something with her words.

"What are you trying to say?" I asked her pulling my intimidating face.

"That not everyone does charity to give the press a good image, rich boy. Some of us take some our free time to help." She said not feeling intimidated at all by me.

I was speechless for the first time in a long while. It has been years since someone talked back at me. To say that I was furious is an understanding.

"Excuse me-" I start but she cuts me off.

"You are excuse." She said. "C'mon! Let's move your rich ass."

I was in complete awe with that girl. Who does she really think she is? Talking to me like that? Doesn't she know I owned most of this hospital now? I can kick her out by the second.

I follow her to another area of the hospital. I am instantly met by kids without hair on top of their heads and the sigh broke my heart.

"Hello Isabella! How are you doing today?" Violet sat next to the little girl after giving her a hug.

"I'm good V! What about you?" She asked with a big smile.

This girl must be around 7, is so sad to see someone with so many things to live like this. I would have never guessed this was going to be this difficult.

"Isabella, this is Liam Payne. He is the man who bought half of the hospital." Violet tells her.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Payne." She says with a big smile.

"It's nice to meet you too Isabella." I say with a little smile.

"Thanks to your donation, Doctor Stevens was able to save Tommy's life." She smiled at me.

I stared at the little girl in awe. I couldn't believe giving this hospital that money could save someone's life. I just thought my money will be used to buy new materials but I was wrong.

"Then I can't wait to meet Tommy." I smiled at her.

We stepped out of the room after a few more minutes with Isabella. Violet stopped in front of me and gave me a look.

"You can't see Tommy yet. He survived the operation but its struggling. We haven't told the kids yet." She tells me and I nod.

I feel bad. It has to be difficult to see a kid die but it has to be awful to tell a kid that a friend has died, especially if they shared the same disease. It must scare them so much.

We finished all the rooms and all the kids. I was in awe at how well Violet knew all of them. They all wanted hugs and kisses from her and it made me wonder why.

"This is all. Follow me and I would give you something for lunch. You must be starving." She said.

"It's fine really." I said.

"No sense. Doctor Stevens wanted to have lunch with you himself but his operation is not over so I guess is just us." She said.

I decided to don't go against her and followed towards the crew area. She introduced to all the nurses who all thank me for the money I contributed. I congratulated them on the good job to be polite.

"C'mon big CEO, today is hamburger day." Violet tells me.

"Do you have something healthier? I try not to eat junk." I say.

She looks at me with an 'are you serious?' expression and I just nod. She groans before serving herself a hamburger from the buffet.

"It's just once. You are not going to die." She tells me.

Much to my disgust, I put my hamburger on my plate. She puts French fries too and asks me if I want to which I nod and she serves them on my plate. She takes a coke can and I take a bottle of water. To finish it off, she also grabs a big bottle of ketchup from the counter.

She guides me to one of the free tables and we sat down one in front of the other. She takes a sip of her coke before pouring ketchup on top the side of her plate. She takes a fry and drowns it on ketchup before she brings it to her mouth.

I can't help but stare at her. She is so odd and weird. I swear I never have dinner with a girl who will eat food with so much fat before. They will always complain about how this or that will make them win weigh. But then Violet was here and she didn't care.

"What? Do I have something in my mouth?" She asks.

I smile. I genuinely smile.

"You have ketchup here." I point to the side of my lips.

"Opps!" She says before cleaning her mouth with the napkin.

She was so cute but she got a mouth too. She was like two polar opposites meeting in one person.

"So, why do you volunteer here?" I ask.

"I feel good doing it." She answers.

"Do you work?" I ask.

"Yes. I give art classes on the evening to kids." She tells me.

"So you are an artist." I say.

"You can call me that." She says. "So you are a CEO."

"You can call me that." She smiles at my answer.

"What does a CEO do exactly?" She asks.

"Boss around." She laughs at my answer but it's the truth so she stops laughing as soon as she realizes I am being serious.

"Sorry." Her cheeks turn slightly red in embarrassment.

"It's fine. But yeah, I am the boss and I just control everything and also I make the decisions." I tell her.

"Sounds fun." Irony reappears on her voice.

"How old are you?" I ask changing the subject.

"Mr. CEO didn't your mother taught you that you should never ask a woman her age?" She said with a cheeky smile.

"She did but I don't care. You look around my age but dress like a teenager." I say.

"Well thank you?" She asks. "I'm 25. You?"

"26." I answer.

"Aren't you too young for being a CEO?" She asks.

"I am indeed. Youngest CEO in New York." I said proudly.

"I bet that information comes on Forbes?" She asked.

"It does." I say.

"Holy shit." She whispers to herself making me laugh.
