Chapter 6
My mouth parts in awe. Is she really here? I turn around and there she is. I instantly frown, what the fuck is she wearing?
There she stood dressed on denim dungarees covered in paint. A cream oversize's cardigan over her arms and her blonde hair is pulled up on a ponytail. The same converse from last night on her feet.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
She looks down to the floor and her cheeks turn red. I understand that she is not comfortable, most likely because Joanna is still here and we are in the middle of the reception with people passing by.
"Follow me to my office." I say.
She nods and we began to walk. I pull the door open for her and she frowns before stepping in. Once I step myself, I close the door and walk towards my desk. I rest my briefcase on top of my table and sat down on my chair.
Violet looks around my office in awe. Her eyes pay special attention to the breathtaking New York City view that you admire from my large windows.
"So?" I ask.
"What?" She asks as I pull her back to reality.
"Why are you here?" I ask rather harshly.
"Oh, that...I wanted to apologize for my behavior last night. It was unappropriated, uncalled for and rude. I'm sorry." She said.
The look on her face told me two things. One, she was truly sorry about what happened. And two, she was embarrassed but I couldn't understand why.
"Why should I accept your apology? Ms. Lane, you truly showed me that you are very immature by flipping me off." I say while I cross my hands on top of my table.
"Oh gosh I know." She buried her face on her hands in embarrassment. "I just don't know why I did that. I guess I spend too much time around kids. I am starting to act like one."
"You do." I laughed a bit making her head snap up in surprise. "I accept your apology."
"Thank you Mr. Payne." She smiles at me.
"Why are you embarrassed?" I ask.
"It's a lot of things really. First, my behavior last night. Second, this place is breathtaking, the views are amazing. I been caught drooling over this sights and that was awkward." I couldn't help but laugh. "And third because you are all dressed so grown up, mature and expensive and I am just plain old me."
I stopped laughing when I saw her frown. She felt so out of place that she felt uncomfortable and embarrassed. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
"Don't mean to dig on the wound but what are you wearing?" I ask with furrowed brows.
"I just came back from my art classes." She said before biting her lips nervously.
"That explains the paint." I say.
"Yeah." She gives me a big smile. "But you shouldn't talk when yesterday you visited the hospital wearing dress pants from what...Armani?"
"Close, YSL." I smile.
"Same price tag." She shakes her head. "You have an amazing office by the way."
"Thank you. I didn't decorate it though." I say.
"The rest of the building is nice too. Is it all yours?" She asks.
"Yes, it is." I nod.
"Wow." She simply says. "Well, anyways. I should go."
She walked to the door and before she pulls it open, I call out for her.
"Wait!" I say all of a sudden.
She turns around and looks at me. Why I called for her?
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"Home." She said as if it was obvious.
"Oh yeah right. Sorry. You can go." I say.
She made a weird face and appended to push open the door. However, someone opened the door and it hit her right in the face.
"Ouch!" She shouted before falling to the floor.
"Oh fuck." I shouted and got up from the chair.
"Oh my god! I am so sorry." Niall apologized as soon as he saw the mess he made.
I kneeled down in front of Violet who was holding her nose, blood pouring down her hand.
"Niall you idiot! Go call the doctor or something." I shouted at him.
"Mr. Payne I am fine. It's just a little bleeding." Violet said. "Do you have a tissue?"
"Here you have tissues." Niall said to her before giving her my box of tissues.
"Are you sure you are okay? I can call an ambulance." I say to her.
I was completely freaked out. The situation was making me worried and nervous. I hated blood. I will not pass out if I see it but it didn't bring nice memories.
"I'm fine Mr. Payne, just a little blood coming from my nose. No big deal." She said brushing me off.
She attended to get up but she barely managed as she fell back. I caught her in my arms just before she hit the floor.
"Ops! My head is spinning." She laughed slightly as I still held her in my arms.
"Lay down on the couch." I say.
I carried her bridal style. She surprised me by wrapping her arms around my neck. I laid her down on the couch and kneeled beside her. I pushed her hair out of her face to prevent it from touching the blood that poured from her nose.
I grabbed a tissue from the box and cleaned the red mess from her face as her green eyes analyzed me. I glanced at her but she didn't stop watching me with her curious eyes.
"Liam, mate, I called the doctor. She will be here soon." Niall appeared breaking our eye contact.
