Chapter 5
"So how is life?" Louis asked as we go through our meal.
"Same old same old." I say.
I say before putting some of my salad into my mouth. Today Louis and I decided to meet for lunch as we try to do that at least once a week.
Louis is one of my all-time friends. We met each other since primary school and we been friends ever since. It's safe to say that he is one of those persons I trust with my eyes closed.
"What about you? How's the wedding plans going?" I change the subject to him.
"We barely started. El has been looking weeding dresses online since I proposed but other than that nothing." He confessed.
"Mate are you sure you want to do this?" I asked.
"Yeah. I have been with El since we were 19. It's time to put the ring on it." He said.
"I don't know men. I will never get married so." I say.
"Why not? Are you gonna be a loner for the rest of your life?" He asked.
"I am not going to be alone. I'll have plenty of female company." I smirked.
"Liam, that is like being alone." He said serious.
My smirk dropped. What is he on about?
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"That yeah it was fun to fuck around when we were younger but that is it. Liam, you are 26. Don't you think is time to meet someone and settle down?" He asks.
"I don't care about my age. I will never settle down with just one woman. That will be pure torture." I say.
"No it will not." He shakes his head in negation. "You see it like that because neither of your busty blonde will make a good life time company. But if you met a nice girl who isn't like them, you will fall in love and you will be more than pleased to share the rest of your life with her." He explained with a smile.
"Mate, did you shallow a romantic novel? Did you hit your head really hard?" I ask with a frown.
"God Liam! Stop it!" He groaned obviously mad. "I'm just trying to tell you that it's fine to fall in love and be faithful to someone."
"I get it. Maybe it is fine for you but it is not for me. I never want to have a relationship, let alone marriage and kids. That makes me cringe." I say.
"Well I am sorry to hear that. I'm just doing this because I love you mate." He said before giving me a pat on the back.
"Me too." I say with a little smile.
"So anyway, let's change the subject. How is work?" He asked.
"Fine. Harry told me that my actions are growing. Niall and I had a meeting yesterday and we will expand to Japan next year." I say.
"Wow that sounds huge." He said in awe.
"It is indeed. It's a big market." I say proudly.
"I can't believe you are a CEO. Look at you the big money around and I am just the poor football coach of a kid's team." He laughed.
"If you need money, don't doubt on asking. You are my bro." I said.
"I don't need it Haz. It's fine." He said.
"Anyways, you have my back." I tell him.
"Yeah yeah I know Mr. Big Bucks'" He joked.
I instantly thought of Violet. She always calls me Mr. CEO. I just can't help but remember her flipping me off last night.
"Hey, what are you thinking about? You smiled but then it dropped." He asked with curiosity all over his face.
"It's just this very annoying girl." I say with a sigh.
"Tell me about it." He encouraged me.
"Remember the kid's hospital I financed?" He nods. "Well, there is this girl named Violet that volunteers there that is so annoying. She calls me Mr. CEO and she doesn't care who I am. She is outspoken and yesterday she flipped me off."
"Wow!" Louis said in awe. "Sound fun! I like her."
"Shut up Louis!" I say. "She just makes my blood boil like literally boil. She is so annoying."
"I think someone likes her." Louis smiled at me.
"What? Me? Ha! Next joke please." I say.
"Why not? You give her a lot of thought for not liking her." He points out.
"I do not. She just infuriated me yesterday." I shook my head.
"Is she hot?" He asks.
"No." I say.
"Why not?" He asks.
"She is not my type. She is cute thought." I admit. Wait, I just said that out loud?
"What kind of cute?" He asks.
"Feckless, floral dresses, converse, green eyes...that sweet kind of cute." I say.
"You so like her." He laughed.
"I do not." I defended myself.
"Then why do you know so many little things about her?" He asked.
"I dunno! It's just that she is so annoying. She acts like a child. Who does she think she is to talk to me like that? I could take my money of her stupid hospital and we will see if she will flip me off."
"Liam mate that is enough." Louis said with a serious expression. "You can't do that. Those kids need the money."
"God Louis I will never do that. It was just an example. I'll not let those kids die because she is stupid." I say.
"She is not stupid Liam. She just doesn't deal with you like you are used to." He said.
"Well it's whatever because I probably will not see her again. So who cares?" I say.
The rest of the lunch goes by as we talk about the football match of next Saturday and other random stuff.
In time, I arrive to my office and see Joanna rushing to me.
"Mr. Payne! There is a young lady who wants to see you. She is the one who called yesterday." She informed me.
"Hello Mr. Payne." I heard Violet voice sound behind me.
