When I got to school the next day, ram straight into Lauryn. Well technically I didn't run into her. We had parked next to each other at the same time. We got out of our cars and walked to meet each other.
"Hey girly!" She said when we got closer.
"Hey. How was your night?"
"It was great! My parents told me they go to do their separate filmings so I'm home alone like normal!" She said faking excitement.
"That's sounds like my life!" I said playfully. Lauryn and I had bonded a lot more since our parents were never home.
Laughing at what I'd said we walked into the school together with our arms linked. Since I had tons of time to spare somehow, we walked to her locker first. It was a little ways from mine but I'd didn't really need to go to mine.
"Oh great." I grumbled when I saw Luke. He was walking down the hallway.
"Ignore him. It'll be a little hard since his locker is two down from mine." Lauryn said.
"Lauryn! You know if I knew that I wouldn't have come down this way!"
"That's exactly why you didn't know." She said giving me a smirk and a weird look. "Okay let's go to the courtyard." She said shutting her locker door.
We walked together to the courtyard. Sitting in the grass since the tables were taking, we embraced the sun. Our little in the middle of nowhere town didn't always have sunny days like this.
"Want to sleep over tonight?" I asked Lauryn.
"Sure and I won't even need to get clothes. I still have some at your house!"
"We can go get burgers for dinner. I don't really want pizza tonight." I suggested.
"That's sound like a plan to me babes." Lauryn said. We talked until the bell rang and we got up. Walking to to first period together.
When I went to enter the door, someone tried to go at the same time as me. This resulted on my stumbling back and them gripping my waist to steady me. Looking up to scowl at them for being an idiot, I was enraged.
I stared down Luke who had a look in his eyes. It basically read 'I bumped into you on purpose to see what you would do' and he was smirking waiting for my move. I roughly pushed his hands off my waist, gave him one last glare, before walking through the door.
I sat down and was quiet for the period. I was in a pissy mood because of his actions. Lauryn had tried to talk to me, but saw it was of no use. When the period was over I was the first ones out the door.
When lunch time came around, I walked outside of the gym and saw nothing. Where was Derek? I waited a little while longer before giving up to go to lunch.
When I walked into the cafeteria I was one of the last people to be in line. I looked over to our table. Sure enough Derek was over there with his friends, he must have forgot.
"Are you going to keep staring at your boyfriend or are you going to move?" Luke asked me.
"Shut up." I said while walking forward.
"Ouch that hurt." He said mocking hurt.
Getting my food and gripping the tray tightly, I made my way over to the table. It seemed like forever to walk over there, maybe because I was trying to calm my nerves. When I put my tray down next to Derek his head shot up.
"Oh shit! Babe I'm sorry! I was... Busy and forgot to wait for you." He said turning his attention to me.
"It's okay." I said smiling at him and he went back to talking to the boys. I was worried when Lauryn didn't show up for lunch. That also left me to basically eat alone. When lunch was over, I had barely touched my food.
"Hey Brooks, I have something to take care of during free period. Will you be okay alone?" Derek asked as we got up from the table.
"Um yeah." I said and before I could even register he was gone. "Okay then." I said to myself.
I walked to the library and sat at one of the couches. Curling up into a ball, I grabbed the book I was reading out of my bag. I got lost in the words that I read and barely noticed the couch shift in weight.
"Hello." A voice I had grown to hate said.
"How did you even know?" I asked pulling my book away from my face, amazement in my tone.
"Know what?" Luke asked intrigued.
"Know where the library is?" I asked a triumphant grin on my face.
"If you must know, I'm an aide this person. Your in my castle, this where I stay for the period."
"That must a change in environment. I didn't even think you knew what this place was."
"I obviously do, if I'm in your class." He said rolling his eyes.
"Could've fooled me."
"How do you even think I got into those classes?" He asked but before I could give him a witty answer the bell rang. I zipped up my bag and walked to my next class leaving him on that couch.
The day was going by fast and when I got to Health Science I was in a good mood. I don't know the cause of it, but it was there. When class started, Ms. Watson, did her normal thing. She took attendance told us the question of the day but today she added something new.
"Okay, I've been thinking we all need to branch out. I know your wondering what I mean, well I mean your sitting next to people your comfortable with. That's changing, I'm assigning partners for the remainder of the year. You'll be doing numerous assignments together and you'll be starting the first one today." Ms. Watson informed us. A couple of groans were heard but she stood her ground. She started calling off the names and I didn't pay attention until I heard my own.
"Brooklyn Salvatore you'll be partnered with..." She said and then looked back down at her paper. "Luke Edwards."
The world came to a complete halt. I was frozen in my seat. When I finally came to my senses, I realized everyone was switching seats to be near there partners. When I looked to right, I saw Luke's signature smirk as he sat down next to me.
"This should be fun." He said softly while turning to face the front of the class. I gave him a hard glare before doing the same as him.
"Okay your going to pull a topic out of this bin. In this bin you have numerous of health topics to talk about. Whatever your partner picks, is what your PowerPoint shall be on. You will have two and half months to do this assignment so I expect them to be done correctly." She said as she started walking around to let us draw topics.
When the bin came to me, I reached in. Shuffling the slips of paper around before settling on one. I pulled it out and read it. I tried to put it back in for a new one but she yanked the bucket away.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"I don't want this topic." I said.
"Well your stuck with it." She said before continuing to walk around.
"What's our topic that you clearly didn't want?" My obnoxious partner asked. Instead of answering him I handed him the slip of paper watching his reaction. His eyes lit up and his had a huge smile on his face.
"Don't say it." I said sensing a witty comment about to erupt from his mouth.
"Let's talk about sex baby." He said in a sing song voice and I groaned.
"Your immature." I muttered.
"Coming from the girl who didn't want to talk about the reproductive system and how it works."
"I don't mind talking about it. It's just I have to work with an immature Neanderthal like you."
"Ouch. Neanderthal?" He asked in a mocking tone.
