The next day, I stayed home from school. I didn't feel like facing Derek or any for that matter. My face was still discolored and makeup wasn't working.
"Sweetie, are you going to school?" My mom asked knocking and entering my room.
"No, I don't feel good. I have a headache." I said from under my covers.
"Okay make sure someone gets you your homework. You will be going tomorrow though."
"Okay."
"Your father and I won't be home for dinner."
When are you ever?
"Ok bye." I said and with that I heard the door shut.
This past weekends events kept replaying in my head. Is was like my worst nightmare on repeat. For some reason my favorite part was being rescued by Luke. I was glad that he came, I was defending myself but I wouldn't have lasted much longer.
I fell back asleep hidden underneath my blanket. When I woke up it was around lunch time. Grabbing my phone and a small blanket I made my way downstairs.
I didn't feel like making actual food so I settled on cereal. Reaching for the Frosted Flakes that sat on the top shelf in our pantry was no easy feat. I winced at the pain it caused in my ribs. It was the same feeling I had when I had to get a bowl.
I had poured myself a lot of cereal. I really loved Frosted Flakes. I walked over to the fridge and got the milk out. Pouring it into the cereal and putting it back. On my way out of the kitchen I got a spoon.
Walking over to the couch I plopped down and turned on the TV. I ate my cereal while watching reruns of Spongebob Squarepants. Once I had watched about two episodes I turned on my phone.
While I waited for my notifications to come up I saw I had a lot of texts. Mainly from twitter and Lauryn. Lauryn had texted me fifteen times and twitter had sent me thirty notification texts. I opened up Lauryn's texts.
'Hey where are you?'
'Great I have to suffer our classes alone'
'Do I need to get your homework?'
'Are you playing hooky?'
'I'm getting worried'
'Are you with Derek because he isn't here either'
Why didn't Derek show up? Then I remember how bad he got beat up by Luke. I read the rest of her texts before responding.
'I didn't feel good so I stayed home. And yes please I need my homework.'
'You owe me twice now Salvatore. I wanna know what happened this weekend.'
I knew that was coming. I decided to ignore that text but she knew I'd seen because of iMessage. I went on twitter and caught up on the latest news. I was a Directioner and things were constantly happening in that fandom.

"Hey I got your homework! Come open the door!" Lauryn said from the other side of my door. I took a deep breath before opening it slowly.
"Why did you take so long I prob-" She started as she walked in, before seeing my face.
Her jaw dropped to the ground -not literally but you know what I mean- and her eyes bugged out if her eyes. She was getting the full effect because I hadn't even attempted to cover my bruises.
"What the hell happened with Derek this weekend?" She asked.
"Wow." Lauryn said when I finished telling her the past weekends events.
