I was running. Trying to get away from him.
No one was around. How could I be so idiotic and be here with him alone. I turned back to see him still running after me, in the process of this I tripped. Why am I always falling in desperate times like this?! Catching myself on my palms before I hit the floor.
His hands attacked me from the back. One hand tangling in my hair and the other gripping my waist roughly. Pulling me up from the ground and pressing me against his hard chest not even an ounce of comfort contained on it.
"Where did you think you were going?" He asked harshly in my ear and I let out a little whimper.
"J-just please let me go. I won't tell anyone about anything just let me go." I pleaded.
"Shut up! Thats all you ever do is talk and beg!" He shouted while spinning me around to face me and gripping my arms tightly. "I can finally think with a clear head, damn it!"
Tears welled in my eyes and I tried to hold them back. If I let any run down my face he'd freak out. Sadly, I wasn't trying hard enough becuase one slipped out of my right eye. I tried to wipe it quickly but I forgot that my hands were currently trapped. He saw this and flipped.
"Are you trying to leave?! Are you trying to fight back?!" He shouted at me before raising a hand and hitting me across the face.
My face stung from the blow and I couldn't help but cry out at the sharp sensation. This just angered him more. Soon the punches, kicks, and slaps all became a blur and I kept crying out.
"Brooklyn!" A voice called out. A feeling of hope shot through my body.
"Brooklyn!" The voice called out again but closer this time.
"BROOKLYN!' Someone shouted as they shook me awake.
"Hmm?" I asked as I was released from the horrid nightmare.
"Fuck Brooklyn you scared me!" the voice said.
I finally opened my eyes to see the face that the voice matched with. Luke. How could I forget he was here? That's when I realized the position I was in. He me cradled in his arms as if I was a small child and I looked into his eyes. There was nothing but worry, concern and fear in them.
"Are you okay?" He asked me softly. I couldn't even answer him. I didn't want to relive the nightmare. I just let the tears fall and clung onto Luke who just so happened to be half naked.
After what felt like 30 minutes I was finally calm and I pushed off of Luke. He sat up straight and faced me. His face was masked in worry and his eyes were asking a million questions.
"Thank you." I said shyly.
"It's fine. Do you want to talk about what happened?"
"It was Derek. We were in the woods, I don't know why and we were alone. I guess I did something to make him mad, because the next thing I knew he was chasing after me. I was running like I was fighting for my life and I just couldn't get away no matter what. I was checking over my shoulder when... When I fell." I said as I started getting upset again. He moved to comfort me but I just held up my hands.
"He grabbed me and I tried to beg for him to leave me alone, but he just got meaner. Then I was trying to hold back tears and it didn't work. He beat me so bad and everything became a blur." I said finishing the story.
"Your not going to want to hear this right now but I think you need to end things. Dreams always have a meaning, and the meaning of this one seems to be to get out while you can." Luke said slowly as if testing the waters.
I didn't even feel like arguing with him about it because he was right. I just couldn't bring myself to admit that he was right. I loved Derek and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Everyone deserves a second chance right?
"Well since your okay I guess I'll go back to bed." Luke said as he got up from my bed.
"No." I said quickly reaching out to grab his hand. A look of confusion crossed his face at my action. "Stay. Stay with me please?" I pleaded.
"Um okay." He said as I scooted over and made room for him.
He pulled back the cover and got in the bed. I felt it dip with his weight added and I snuggled closer to his body. Luke was tense and I could feel it as I laid my head on his shoulder. After a while he finally relaxed and let out a deep breath. Within minutes I was asleep and all nightmares were avoided this time.
The next morning I awoke to the sound of my alarm. I went to slam it but an arm was draped across my waist holding me tight. That's when I also noticed the body heat radiating from behind me. As I shifted to get from under Luke's arm, he pulled me closer as if he didn't want me to go.
"Don't leave." He murmured.
"I have to. So do you, there's school and you have morning wood." I said awkwardly.
He chuckled but moved his arm releasing me. I turned off the alarm and then got up. Stretching my hands above my hand as I headed towards the bathroom. Shutting the door behind me, I went over to the shower and turned it on letting the water heat as I brushed my teeth.
When I stepped in the shower I washed off my face and bathed. Using the sweetest smelling body soap. When I got out I wrapped my towel around my body and walked back into my room. Giving it a quick scan to make sure Luke wasn't in sight.
I went over to my room door to shut and lock it. Wiping off the leftover water and throwing on underwear and a bra I started towards my closet. I picked out a nice pair of white jeans, a soft pink shirt and a pair of white vans.
I went over to my door and opened before returning to the bathroom. I plugged in my flat iron and started my make up. Going for a more natural look today I just put on eyeliner and mascara. Once I finished that I used the flat iron to put nice wavy curls in my hair.
After spraying hair spray on my hair I unplugged the flat iron and turned off the bathroom light. Grabbing my bag I walked out of my room and down the stairs. I headed towards the kitchen where Luke sat eating a bowl of cereal.
"Morning." He said with a smirk.
"Morning." I said walking over to the cabinet to get a bowl for myself.
Once my bowl was fixed I joined him at the counter and ate. We ate in silence and once we finished we gathered our things and walked towards the door. I locked it behind us and he made his way over to his car. He pulled out first and I followed behind him.
Arriving at school, I saw Derek waiting for me. Walking over to him, he pulled me into his arms and placed a kiss on my lips. I kissed him back and smiled when we broke apart. In the back of my mind I could hear a voice saying "run" but I ignored it.
"How was practice yesterday?" I asked as we entered the school.
"It was fine. I think we have a great shot of getting into the finals this year." He said.
"That's great." I said as we reached my locker.
The second bell rung and Derek gave me a quick kiss before running off towards his class. I started towards my class and out of the corner of my eye I saw Luke making out with some girl against the lockers. I don't why but I didn't like it.
The day flew by and before I knew it health science was here. When I got to class Luke was already in there. Smiling at him as I sat down next to him.
"You ready to present?" he asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I said confidently.
