Unlikely Pair

Chapter 4

"He's your what?!" Lauryn exclaimed.

"My Health Science partner... For the rest of the school year." I repeated for the fifth time.

"Is he coming over today?!"

"No, why would he?"

"To work on the project."

"I honestly doubt he'll do any work. Plus I didn't see him to work out a schedule on when to work on it."

"Wow, what's he like?"

"An asshole. Like always. New topic please."

"Fine. What does Derek have to say about this?"

"Ugh this is not a new topic." I groaned.

"Yes it is. The topic is Derek."

"Your not clever and honestly I don't know. I haven't seen him since lunch. Where were you by the way?"

"Talking to Logan. We went off campus for lunch."

"Let's watch a movie!" I said changing the topic altogether.

"I'll get the snacks, you can pick them movie!" Lauryn said going to the kitchen.

"Wanna watch Pitch Perfect?" I called out from my spot on the couch.

"Sure! Do you want Doritos?"

"Bring the bag!"

I went to the movies on demand and clicked Pitch Perfect. Lauryn popped next to me holding the Doritos bag, Oreos, and two cans if soda. It was safe to say, we were going to pig out. The movie started and we started singing the opening song along with Trebles.

By the middle of the movie, we were both dying if laughter. No matter how many times we watch it, it's still funny. Just when they got to the fight scene someone knocked on my door. Lauryn glanced at me with a confused look.

I got off the couch slowly and walked to the door. I peeped out the window and couldn't see their face. Darn it. Opening the door slowly, they turned to face me.

"Jesus Christ I almost had a heart attack." I said my hand flying to my chest.

"Sorry." Derek muttered as he walked past me and into my house. "Hey Lauryn." He said to her and she just waved.

"What're you doing here?"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"Lauryn give us a minute will you?" Derek said to Lauryn.

"Yeah, I'm going to go upstairs and get our homework." Lauryn said uncomfortably as she got off the couch and ran towards my stairs.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me?!"

"Tell you what?" I asked calmly.

"That Luke Edwards is your fucking partner! Do you know what kind of idiot I looked like when I had to hear from Brittany that he was your partner!"

"Wait hold on! Why were you talking to Brittany?!" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.

"I heard her in the hallway talking about it!" He said lowering his voice.

"Yeah sure, but you shouldn't feel any way about hearing it from some one else. It's for a class! It's not like I'm doing it for my own enjoyment!"

"You right. I overreacted. I'm sorry." Derek said pulling me into hug.

"It's okay." I mumbled into his chest."

"Are you two done?" Lauryn asked walking into the room and dropping the homework stuff on the recliner.
