April 1977

Since the spring dance Hyde and Jackie were taking things day by day, even when the others bugged them about there status Hyde would say the usual " but out " or Jackie let them know it's a working process.

She would even drop by the photo hut to visit Hyde as part of there get to know each other routine. And at school they would sit next to each other during class or lunch.

Or if they were all together they sat together.

Point Place High School

12:30PM

" So not looking forward to math class " sighed Eric as he sat by the window, " I know it's complicated " replied Hyde looking bored. Just then the teacher walked in along with the lesson.

3:00PM

The dismissal bell had finally rang meaning school was over for the day getting all the students excited.

Jackies POV

While putting books in my locker I couldn't help but smile, all I can think of is Steven and how we've been talking or hanging out together lately.

I thought after all I've been through that I was going to be alone but now I got new friends and a possible boyfriend that I'm crazy for.

As I was about to get my purse someone from behind me grabbed it, turning to see who it was I get upset it turns out to be one of those Jerk Jocks.

" Give it back " I ordered trying to reach for it but he only kept raising it higher then tossed it to his other friend while students watched, " hey I said give it back " I repeated, " Aw whatcha gonna do about it poor girl " he said only make tears start forming as I reached for it.

" HEY!!! BACK OFF!! " shouted the one voice that could comfort me, Steven snatched my purse from them, " I said never come near her again or should I beat the shit out of you like before " he said facing them.

" Whatever Steven we can out number you don't forget your girlfriends a thiefs daughter " they said making me cry as I hear the words I hate most. " Call her that again and I'll make sure you never walk " said Steven before they walked away from him.

Once gone I hugged Steven tightly, " you okay? " he asked holding me, " I hate those words " I breathed feeling his hands rub my back, " it's okay I'm here " said Steven as we look at each other.

Lightly smiling he gives me back my purse and we walk down the hall together. When we entered the parking lot I notice other girls talking and smiling. As me and Steven get closer my eyes widen seeing who it was.

Sitting on the trunk of his polished red corvette was someone I knew all too well.

" Geez what a show off " said Steven in annoyance, but all I didn't respond next thing you know the guy noticed me, " Jackie? " asks Steven as he got closer to us.

" Hey babe I found you " he says before pressing his lips onto my cheek, " what's going on? " asked Steven, " this is James my ex boyfriend from my old school " I answered...

Hydes POV

4:00PM

Basement

I came storming into the basement with Jackie close behind me, " Steven wait....please hear me out " she said followed by me facing her, " what so you can lie to me " I replied in an angry voice.

" No I never lied to you...look at the time my dad got arrested James was my boyfriend " she explains looking into my eyes, " and when I asked him for help he breaks up with me saying that it'll ruin his reputation for even being seen with me " turning her back at me she grabs the hair on her head.

" So what's he doing here then? " I asked sitting down, " I don't know but it's too late the minute he dumped me it made me realize alot more about everyone I ever knew " answered Jackie.

We sat in silence trying to breath from everything that happened today..

Next Morning

Point Place High School

7:50AM

Me and Jackie walked side by side with Donna and Eric in front of us, every so often I'd glance at her but she looked a bit down.

Slowly reaching for her hand I hold it making a smile appear on her face. Just as we were reaching the school entrance there parked was the red corvette from yesterday instantly getting angry.

" Woah that is a seriously nice car " said Eric eyeing the car, " yeah " agreed Donna. James walks up to us once he sees Jackie, " morning babe " he greets smiling...

Jackies POV

Rolling my eyes at James, " what are you doing here were not even together " I said to James not even affected by what I said

" Jackie I made a mistake breaking up with you and I know that nothing your dad did was your fault " he explains hitting that sore spot, " your such a Jerk I don't even know why I dated you in the first place " I replied getting angry.

" Burkhart you know all too well that no one here can give you what you want and if I recall all the gifts I gave you were all you cared about " said James smiling which I couldn't help but agree whenever I wanted something he got it for me.

Closing my eyes I take a deep breath but before I could talk Steven walked up to him, " listen you high class piece of shit Jackies been through alot in less time then it would take you to tie your shoes " he said annoyed James.

" And where were you and the so called friends she had when all this happened? " asked Donna, " you rich people suck " added Eric trying to look tough.

James laughed a bit before looking back at me, " seriously Jackie your gonna pick these losers over what you had " he asked then Steven grabbed him by James shirt, " leave her alone you asshole " hissed Steven getting angry.

" What are you to her....Oh let me guess her new boyfriend " teased James laughing, " what if I am " replied Steven getting my attention along with Eric and Donna's. " It's true what they say once you hit bottom you just keep getting lower " said James only this time Steven punched him in the stomach.

Opening the car door Steven pushes James in before we walk away leaving him in pain.

When got in class Stevens words keep replaying in my head so I look at him, " Steven did you mean what you said? " I asked shyly, " Jackie you know I like alot but if your unsure about us take time to think about it " he answers just as the bell rings and the teacher walks in.

My breathing stopped as I turned to face the front unable to focus on anything all day......Steven wanted me to choose.
