I said I couldn’t remember what happened these past few days..
but today is the day I’d never forget.
Today I get to look at my new face.
I waited the whole afternoon for the doctors to arrive.
When I was sure it was already dark outside, they came.
They started removing the bandages off my face as I waited with anticipation.
It seemed ages until the last bandage was off.
Finally. A new face. A new beginning.
I looked at them with hope in my eyes..
but their eyes looked devoid of hope..
what I saw was sadness and another expression I only understood as pity.
I asked for a mirror and slowly lifted it to my face.
