(Part 33)

"Have you ever

held a butterfly

and felt its struggle

against your hand?

Can you expect

to flutter any less

when you hold

yourself within?

Will you give yourself

another chance

without the least

demand?

Then free the spirit

of the butterfly

and go...

begin again."

Over a year, many things can change. Whether it's for the good or the bad, well, it's not really for people to judge because it's already been done, therefore it cannot be reversed.

Sometimes, someone's pain pushes them over the edge, causing them to become someone else. Someone entirely new.

To some, letting go is impossible. They make happiness a test of life, letting their regret consume them. Their life is filled with burdening questions, wondering what they could have done to be different. In some cases, the harsh truth is that they could have done nothing different. Their actions in the past could not have been controlled by them.

Sometimes people want to recreate themselves, hoping that when they look in the mirror, they'll no longer see the person they used to be, the person who suffered so much pain. But what they don't realize is that they're still that person, and as much as they pretend to be otherwise, one day it'll all catch up to them. A person, or a place, a name or a voice, will bring them back to their past life. And as much as they'd like to say they were happy in that fake life that they created, it won't be true. Because a fake life is nothing compared to the real one...

Hence to say, Isabella was no longer Isabella. She would not have been easily recognized by one who only knew bits and pieces of who she was.

What was the trigger of this change? If anyone were to ask her, Isabella would have simply stated, "a video," but a video is too vague an explanation.

Memories...

A boy...

Her past...

The pain...

A death...

A ghost of who she truly was...

She tried to forget about everything that had happened to her. She blocked it all out, the good and the bad. She acted differently and her attitude was different, or so she thought. She thought she was starting over with a new life. Free of her painful history, of her lost love, of Adam....

But starting over means to forget everything, to let go of all the memories. Good or bad. And as much as Isabella would claim that she forgot it all, she would never admit that at night, they came back, and even more importantly, she was grateful of their resurrection.

So yes, Isabella was no longer Isabella. But all she needed was a single person to bring her back....
