A Batgirl in Academy City: Book 1, Return.

Epilogue: Nay or Yay?

Far above the Earth.. a massive space station orbited the planet, a space station more massive then even the International Space Station itself.

This was the Watch Tower.. the headquarters of the group of heroes known as the Justice League.

Within the Justice League's meeting room, which consisted of a long table and seats, with a holographic display in the middle, many of Earth's greatest heroes were gathered.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Red Tornado, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Plastic Man, Hawk Girl, and many others. 

"Let's call this meeting to order." said Superman, nodding at Batman. "As you all know, we're here to discuss possible members for next year. It's going to be a long hard vote, there are some pretty great candidates popping up of late.."

A green hooded archer, Green Arrow chuckled. "I have no doubts on that.. with that, I'd like to start the votes with my first nomination.

A hologram appeared of a similar looking archer, younger in appearance with red clothing. "Red Arrow, used to be mine.. the old Speedy. I think he's proven himself a perfect match."

"He's bold, brash, and frankly, he needs to respect his elders." said Black Canary from across the table. "I'm not sure about this.."

"I don't know." Wonder Woman mused. "We have more then our fair share of brash people in the League.."

Wonder Woman winked at Batman when she said this.

"Diana, we've got to consider other factors too." said Black Canary. "Like the reason Red went solo in the first place.."

"Nevertheless, let us keep him on the board for consideration, he would certainly be an asset." said Martian.

"I have my own nomination." said Superman. "It's come to my attention that Bruce has a pretty good addition in his team of late.. the new Batgirl.."

Mikoto's Batgirl self was displayed on the hologram.

"She's a natural from what I've heard." said Superman. "has a good head on her shoulders, and is gutsier then any other girl her age I've ever seen."

Batman gave Superman an unreadable look.

Superman chuckled. "Now now Bruce, I know, she's only been at it for a year, but imagine the good she can do."

"I have no doubt about the good she can do Clark." said Batman. "However, I'd like to spend a few more months getting some training under belt before we let her step this far up the latter."

"But there's a bigger issue here." said Flash. "Thing is.. who are we granting membership here? Railgun or Batgirl? Batgirl can't use her powers, because then it'll reveal her as Railgun, and Railgun can't use her Batman training because it'll reveal her as Batgirl. There might come a time where she'll HAVE to use her powers.. especially in this line of work, she's not like you Bruce."

"Not yet.. with a little more training.. she can carry her weight." said Superman.

"I agree with Flash." said Cyborg. "If she's going to join something as big as this, she's gotta be prepared to throw all her cards on the table. "

"Actually.. I think I have a solution." A dark skinned man spoke up. He wore a black and blue suit decorated with lightning bolt patterns.

"I could.. perhaps, pass her off as a relative of mine." said Black Lightning. "To explain the electric powers."

"What?" said Flash.

"No offense.. but.. Batgirl's Asian." said Canary. "You're.. black.."

"Distant cousin." said Black Lightning. "It happens. I'll let em all think my powers are hereditary, and I'll pass off Misaka as a very distant cousin.. we could have had the same great great grandpa.. I could be mullato.. all we need to do after that, is make sure that Misaka doesn't use that signature Railgun move of hers.. and we're golden.. and we get an electric powered crime fighting bat.. "

Superman considered this, then he looked at Batman. "Bruce? Your thoughts?"

"It could work." said Batman. "But we need something else to sell it.."

"We could get one of her Sisters to put on the Bat costume." said Black Lightning. "And have Misaka meet with 'Batgirl' in person.. for a charity event or whatever.. "

"You sound like you've thought this through." said Martian.

"Not every day I hear about a fellow electric user." said Black Lightning. "What can I say, I'd love to have another one of those on the team."

Superman looked at Batman again, who nodded.

"It's a go then." said Superman. "Batgirl or Railgun is on the list.. Since it seems like we're more in agreement about this then we are the Red Arrow situation.. all in favor of induction into the League?"

Everybody at the table raised their hands.

"Good." said Superman. "now.. moving on.. anymore nominations..?"

And so the meeting continued..
