Seeing Double Chapter 15

(Jacob’s POV)

I held the bottles of water as tight as I could without it crushing the whole thing, and ran to the deserted park.

Iris. Nothing would happen to her. Right? Yeah nothing will. But she suddenly… no she’s just tired. Argh!

I picked up speed and searched the park for my twin and the sick.

There they are! I ran, nearly tripping on something but continue running.

“How’s Iris?”

Jake looked up, she’s still breathing. You sure she’s okay?” he asked.

“yeah she will be” i confidently say.

I can’t make him worried like I’m now.

There was a groan.

(Iris’s POV)

I opened my eyes. I felt weak all over. No energy whatsoever at all. I found myself staring into the twins’ faces.

“You’re alive!” Jake screamed.

Both of them hugged me tightly.

“I…can’t… breathe!” I said between breaths.

“Good to see you’re awake now” Jacob said turning away.

“Iris, you don’t know how worried I was!” Jake whined.

I gave him a faint smile.

Did something happen while I was out? Maybe it’s just me.

A bottle of water came into my view as I grabbed it.

“Thanks Jacob”

“Just drink it already” he said, a little annoyed.

I nod and sat up. I tried opening the cap, the stubborn thing stayed on.

Jake took the bottle from me and opened it within a second.

“Here” he smiled.

“Thanks” I gave a small nod and took a big gulp. The cool liquid slid down my throat. Ah.

I could feel myself feeling better, though not as hyped as I usually was, but I wasn’t feeling faint. That’s a good thing. 

Jake stood up and reached his hand out for me.

I took it without a second thought, while Jacob was in front staring blankly.

The twins sent me home and there goes my carnival.

“Bye Iris” they bid.

“Bye guys, thanks for tonight” I smiled.

Before they left, Jake gave me a wide grin as Jacob gave me a small smile.

--- Next day----

I tugged my bag out of the door, “Bye”

“See ya” I heard the reply.

I took a deep breath. Okay, it’s a normal Wednesday. Just relax. Today’s gonna be alright. I started my slow walk to school.

I felt a sudden vibration from my pocket. I took it out. A message from Jacob.

‘Iris you okay? Do you need a ride to school today? Are you even going? I’m here for you, okay?

Jacob’

‘I’m fine Jacob. Yes and I don’t need one. I’ll be taking a walk there. Thanks Jacob, I really needed that. See you in school?

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and began the long walk to school.

-school-

I walked into the room. Home econs was my first period I guess.

I scanned the room for an empty seat. I moved to the back and settled down. Someone sat next to me.

I got startled. I need to calm down. Was it Jacob? I turned to see a girl with short red curly hair, smiling at me.

No Iris, why would it be? I laughed a little in my head.

“Hey” she said.

“Hi” I smiled.

“Rachel, you can call me rach” she had those genuine smiles as she reached out her hand.

“Iris, ris is fine” I shook hers.

“So what are we making?” Rach asked.

“Monster cake? Is there even such a thing?”

“crap, I wasn’t prepared  for this” she said looking around nervously.

“hmm? Is there something you should be prepare for?”

“Just be alert”

I nod. Monster cake.

The teacher, Mr Nick, I think, came in and everybody seemed to tense up including Rach. He had a really well-toned body and blonde hair full of cow licks.

“Class, today we’re making monster cake” he said with a smirk.

Somebody shouted, “3…2…1!”

Then all hell broke loose. Flour were being thrown from all direction. Eggs got smashed up against the walls and best part of all, Mr Nick was in charge of it all.

“Just throw random things and avoid getting hit” Rach said as she ran off dodging melted chocolate that flew past.

I grabbed eggs and started firing recklessly at people. Strike one! A kid with glasses laughed as he got shot. He ran over to me.

Shoot. I’m gonna get beat up, am I? Panic filled me as he came closer, but stopped a step in front of me.

He was wearing nerdy glasses but behind those were a pair of beautiful green eyes and was perfect except the egg I threw just made it look a little gross.

“Ryan” he smiled and took my hand without warning.

Before I knew it, he rubbed the egg in his hair on my hand and started laughing.

“Iris” I gave a smirk.

I reached for two eggs and I threw them straight into Ryan’s face.

“Hah! In your face!” I laughed, grabbed my ammo and took off.

“I’ll get you for this!” I heard Ryan shouted.

I couldn’t stop laughing. Now where’s Rach?

I spotted a red hair girl, who was totally clean, hiding under the table. I’m sure she won’t mind.

I aim and fired with a hundred percent accuracy.

“WHAT THE HELL?” she shouted as she turned.

That was not Rach.

Two other girls, spotless, came sucking up to her. Then all three stared at me with pure hatred.

Smartest thing I could think of there and then, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me off.

I stopped at a random closed door and rested there.

Okay, great. I just killed somebody with eggs and now she’s pissed.

I felt the door pushed open and I stood up looking away.

Damnit.

“Iris? What’re you doing here?”

Jacob? I turned. True enough, it was him.

“Monster cake?” he said with a small smirk.

I nod but said nothing more.

He seemed to have notice and started dragging me away.
