It was a Friday evening, probably the best day to every 16 year-old. There's clubbing and parties being held. Couples going for midnight movies, hanging out at random places, just plain fun. And there's me, using the computer at school, at 5 in the evening. Forever alone, much?
I knew I shouldn't have join this club. I thought it would have been fun and relaxing. Well, it is relaxing, I'll say that much. But damn it, it take forever just to do a flash. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I've offically joined the mutimedia club. Or the nerds club, at least, that's what people call it. I find it really cool and amazing, actually. Arnold begged me to join it. Okay, maybe not begged, just asked me, with that cute expression on his face. Note to self, use Arnold to get what I want from other people.
Photography and art really is my thing, so animation would have come easier to me. Photography's my life. But knowing I don't have a camera at home, bothers me a little. Dylan's always lending me his, but I can't really ask for it anymore. Maybe I should work part time here and there.
But here I am, trying to figure out the codes to make this idiot ball move. And trust me, when I said it ain't easy, I meant it. I was one of the few that actually could make it for animation. But codes aren't really my thing. Ugh. My head hurts, I'm tired and hungry. I guess, I'll just end here for today, I'll do the rest at home.
I saved the file before I stuck my necklace thumbdrive in. Once it was transferred, I packed my stuff and locked up. Funny how I was the only one working on the codes, the rest must have skipped out because they knew we were going into this.
And just like that another was gone, I thouoght to myself as I swung the thumbdrive round my index finger, humming the rythem to Maroon 5, moves like a jagger. Just another 15 minutes of walking back home, it's nothing, I'm sure I've done worst. Well, maybe not then.
I swung the thumbdrive with a little too much force and it flew right out of my finger into some bushes. "Shit." I cursed silently under my breath.
I squatted in front of the bushes, which now seemed like overpowering me. to find that thumbdrive. Did I mention I need to grow taller soon? I only see the shadows of the bushes, dirt and grass and gum? Gross! I jumped back a little, loosing my balance and landing on my butt. And when they say the ground's suppose to be soft and moist? It's harder than the cement ground.
"Ugh..."
I heard a few footfalls ahead of me. Shoot! If I get caught now for staying this late, I'll definitely get into trouble. I leaned nearer into the bushes, at that moment I didn't really care if its muddy or there's dog poop there. I just needed to stay outta trouble for now. I heard a few muffled voices, familiar ones too.
"You know that Iris girl's gonna be one we have to get right?" some unknown person said in a stern voice.
Isn't that me?
"Awww. I was having fun with her! Fiesty little girl" I heard someone else chuckled.
"No. She's trouble, good thing she doesn't seem to find out anything yet. This will be done in the normal routine. You'll have your fun once she's in our hands. No complains." the stern male said.
Wait. Isn't that..
"Yeah sure, Mr. principal." The other person joked.
I peeked a little as thew footfalls grew softer. No, they really are going to do it. Charters were right about it. No. I'm gonna get captured by them.
I ran out of the school gates as fast as my legs could carry me. My mind blanked out, all I knew I was running like no tomorrow all the way back to nowhere in particular. I wasn't thinking of where to go, just to get far far away from there. Away from that horrid place.
I started feeling tired and breathless from all the running. As I limped across the park, I banged up against a wall. I slid down from it and sat on the ground, bawling my eyes out. I felt something touched my shoulder. Did they catch up? Maybe my footsteps were too loud, that they managed to catch up to me. No! I was gonna get it now! I don't want to!
"NO!" I screamed.
"Iris"
